  1. Originals 25-1published at 70 balls left

    Target 129

Laura Wolvaardt is one of the best players to watch when she gets going.

She's had enough of taking her time, launching her South Africa team-mate Kapp down the ground for four.

    Such a classy batter.

    Originals 20-1

    Oh, close!

Ami Campbell has been struggling, facing a few dot balls, and takes a wild swing at Marizanne Kapp.

The edge flies through and just out of reach of Lauren Winfield-Hill behind the stumps. She got a hand to it, but the ball was flying.

  4. Hales gives Rockets fast startpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 9 August 2023

Trent Rockets' men have put their foot to the accelerator despite the loss of Dawid Malan early on.

Alex Hales has biffed four balls in five balls off Matt Short as the (now former) England man has raced to 23 from 11 balls.

That leaves the Rockets on 40-1 after 25 balls, chasing 143.

It's been a good powerplay for the bowling sides in both innings. Sophia Smale has started really well with the ball.

  6. Originals 19-1published at 75 balls left

    Target 129

Well, the Invincibles only managed 17 in their powerplay, and Originals haven't fared much better.

They need a further 110 from their last 75 balls.

We all love a crowd catch...

This was from the Northern Superchargers' innings in the men's competition.

  8. Originals 16-1published at 80 balls left

    Target 129

Shot! The first sign of intent from the Originals batters as Laura Wolvaardt hits Smale beautifully down the ground for four.

She then cashes in on another as Smale drops her length a tad too short.

    Much-needed runs for the Originals.

  9. How's stat?!published at 16:35 British Summer Time 9 August 2023

Kapp, with four wickets, was the standout player for the Invincibles in the loss to the Fire in their last game. Across her Hundred career, Kapp has picked up 19 wickets at an average of 9.0, conceding at 0.97 runs per ball.

Bowling at an average speed of 67.8 mph (109.2 kph) - she is the fourth quickest bowler, swinging it 1.31° on average & with 46% deliveries shorter than the 7m range - Kapp has been exceptionally tough to face in the competition.

Of the women's bowlers to have bowled 100+ balls in the history of The Hundred, Kapp’s average (9.0) is the best.

  10. Originals 7-1published at 85 balls left

    Target 129

A watchful start from the Originals.

We saw the Invincibles struggle to score freely in the powerplay and it seems to be following the same trend.

Marizanne Kapp has been superb, just six runs coming from her 10 balls so far.

I find not bowling Kapp for a ten fascinating. Wolvaardt is a crucial wicket. When you need early wickets not defending a big total, you want to stump that run rate.

  14. Originals 2-1published at 95 balls left

    Target 129

Ami Campbell is in at three, and tucks one off her legs to get off the mark.

The experience of Wolvaardt is going to be crucial in this chase for Originals now.

It's a lovely delivery. The first couple felt like looseners. This one tries to swing away, shapes up and nips back. I wonder how much Emma Lamb getting out first ball in her last game contributed to her reviewing.

How often does Marizanne Kapp strike early? She is the ultimate competitor, she is a warrior. She is a fearsome fast bowler.

    Lamb lbw b Kapp 0 (Originals 1-1)

    Hitting leg stump!

What a start for Oval Invincibles.

Full, straight and swinging from Kapp and Emma Lamb plays all around it. Unfortunately for the batter, that is her second first-ball duck in two games.

  18. Originals reviewpublished at 97 balls left

    Oh!

Emma Lamb is given out lbw first ball!

It looks close, but she reviews.

  19. Originals 1-0published at 98 balls left

This could be a lively encounter.

Marizanne Kapp is bowling to Laura Wolvaardt - the pair are international team-mates for South Africa.

The batter gets the Originals' first run from the second ball after a misfield in the covers.

It was a bit of a chaotic end to the Invincibles' innings, losing four wickets in their last six balls.
