  1. 50 runs

50 for Joe Rootpublished at 29 balls left

    Rockets 127-3

Reverse sweep from Joe Root - nailed away square to take him to a 24-ball half-century! This has been some knock from the England man!

  2. Rockets 123-3published at 30 balls left

    Need 73 more

Only two form the free hit as Colin Munro whips it behind square. It shouldn't even have been two, a better throw from the deep and Munro would've been run out by a long way.

Four! Pummelled down the ground by Munro and it's another no-ball and a free-hit!

Skied by Munro but it lands in the gap and they run two.

The Rockets have given themselves a chance...

  3. Rockets 113-3published at 33 balls left

    Need 83 more

Clattered through the off side for four by Colin Munro! And it's a no-ball!

Six from that delivery and a free hit to come...

  4. Rockets 104-3published at 35 balls left

    Need 92 more

Wide yorker from Nathan Ellis to finish the set and Joe Root jabs it down to deep third.

It takes some good fielding on the edge to prevent the boundary.

  5. Better bowling from Welsh Firepublished at 40 balls

    Southern Brave 60-1 (Target 145)

Improvement from Welsh Fire, with the Southern Brave scoring just ten runs off their last ten balls.

We could be set up for a tight finish, with the Brave needing 85 off 60 to win.

  6. 6 runs

Rockets 102-3published at 36 balls left

    Need 95 more

Reverse scooped for six by Joe Root!

Full toss and he sends it straight over the wicketkeeper's head!

Might not have been where he was aiming but it all worked out for him.

  7. Southern Brave on toppublished at 30 balls

    Southern Brave 50-1 (Target 145)

Four fours came off those last 10 balls for Southern Brave, whose hopes of ending Welsh Fire's unbeaten start are looking very impressive.

Bouchier and Mandhana are both in good touch and are proving to be tough to find the breakthrough against.

  8. Not outpublished at 40 balls left

    Rockets 92-3

It was very close! Umpire's call saves Joe Root with the ball shown to be clipping leg stump.

A healthy clip, I have to say, but it stays with the on-field decision.

Everyone can gather their thoughts during the strategic timeout.

  9. Spirit reviewpublished at 40 balls left

    Rockets 92-3

Has Liam Dawson had the last laugh? He hits Joe Root on the pad as the Rockets batter plays back.

Given not out but Spirit review. This is close.

  10. Rockets 92-3published at 41 balls left

    Target 196

Liam Dawson continues but Joe Root takes him for three boundaries in the next four balls.

He hits off the off side to start, then reverse sweeps up and over point before sending a conventional sweep very fine.

    Top batting.

  11. Rockets 80-3published at 45 balls left

    Target 196

Colin Munro is the new batter and starts with a pair of twos off Liam Dawson.

A single ends a successful set for Dawson.

  12. Southern Brave hit three sixespublished at 20 balls

    Southern Brave 31-1 (Target 145)

It's raining sixes in Cardiff, with three coming off those last 10 deliveries. After a slow first 10 balls, the Welsh Fire find themselves 31-1, exactly level with where the Southern Brave were after 20 balls.

Mandhana and Bouchier are both looking in good touch here.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 49 balls left

    Kohler-Cadmore c Lawrence b Dawson 33 (Rockets 75-3)

Dollied to extra cover. Partnership broken.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore backed away and tried to hit over the off side but didn't get hold of it at all.

    Simple catch for Dan Lawrence.

  14. Rockets 75-2published at 50 balls left

    Need 121 more

Joe Root is OK to continue so that's the good news.

He slaps the ball into the covers but can't beat the field. No run.

Halfway through the innings and the Rockets have it all to do. Root and Tom Kohler-Cadmore are going well, though.

  15. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

While Joe Root gets a bit of treatment, here is that sensational piece of fielding by Sam Hain earlier.

You have to watch this, it's simply magnificent.

  16. ouch!

Rockets 75-2published at 51 balls left

    Need 121 more

Concern for the Rockets - and possibly England fans - as Tom Kohler-Cadmore smashes the ball back down the ground but hits Joe Root at the non-striker's end.

They run a single before the former England skipper calls for the physio. The ball hit his forearm and it looks a painful one.

With the World Cup not far away, let's hope it is nothing more than a bruise.

  17. Rockets 74-2published at 52 balls left

    Need 122 more

It's stand and deliver stuff from Tom Kohler-Cadmore now as he takes the attack to Daryl Mitchell.

After flaying one boundary through the covers, he's bludgeons the next down the ground for four.

  18. Rockets 66-2published at 55 balls left

    Need 130 more

Just one from the last ball of Chris Wood's over but Tom Kohler-Cadmore is starting to motor.

  19. 6 runs

Rockets 65-2published at 56 balls left

    Target 196

That is enormous! Tom Kohler-Cadmore is down on one knee and demolishes the ball over the leg side and into the grand stand!

  20. Wyatt falls for a duck in Brave's chasepublished at 90 balls left

    Southern Brave 3-1 (Target 145)

An excellent start for the Welsh Fire as they aim to go three points clear at the top of the table. England batter Danni Wyatt was removed for a second-ball duck by Welsh Fire's Shabnim Ismail.

A fortunate reprieve for Smriti Mandhana, who was almost removed lbw. Umpire did not give it, but the replay showed it was out on hawk-eye. The review was not used.
