Southern Brave bowler Tymal Mills on BBC Two: I don't like to shout about it [his birthday] but it was a nice day and a nice present.

"You always want to get into your spell first ball, nice to get a bit of movement, nice to get Phillips, he is a good player. I got into the game later but it was nice to carry on what the boys started.

"We've had a strange start, a game rained off, a close win, a close defeat, got hammered by the Superchargers. We needed a win, we've got a few players sick and injured, we don't play now until Wednesday so hopefully, we can get some players back.

"In a way, we'd like to play again after a performance like that."

On his hat-trick: "I bowled five slower balls, I backed them not to time it and I thought I bowled well. A few of the boys on the bench backed me to go pace on, but I didn't want to be greedy, I was thinking more about dot ball."

On James Vince, who missed the game with illness: "He is locked up in his room, he spent all day yesterday in bed and spent today in bed as well. Hopefully he is able to come back to Southampton with us."

A group of fans are singing "Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy Anderson" as he does his post-match duties on the boundary rope.

  4. 'A difficult night'published at 20:26 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Welsh Fire's Stevie Eskinazi on BBC Two: "They bowled really nicely. It was a tough night, but we will move on quickly.

"It's tricky, we played on a pretty good surface last week. We have to dust ourselves pretty quickly and move on.

"It's about bringing our A-game, we've got some dangerous cricketers."

On what head coach Mike Hussey has brought: "I think he's just a calm head, he knows how difficult it can be. He gives us the freedom to go out and be ourselves. I don't think there's too much of a debrief, have a beer and move on."

  6. 'We'll take a lot of confidence from that'published at 20:22 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Southern Brave's Finn Allen on BBC Two: "It was a pretty tough wicket, I thought I'd just go out and try and find the shot early on and see how we go.

"I thought it was special for Tymal to get a hat-trick on his birthday but we nailed it up top too.

"We've had a bit of an up and down start and the rained off game at the start didn't help.

"It was a pretty good win, a pretty emphatic win and boys will take lots of confidence from that."

On net run-rate: "We recognised it a little bit when we were out there, we just wanted to knock it off as quick as we can with the weather as well."

On how he's enjoying his time at Southern Brave: "It's really good, the boys have been really welcoming. It's been good."

  7. Postpublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Southern Brave started the game in sixth place, but have moved up to third with that victory.

They have climbed above Welsh Fire too.

They've also had a massive net run-rate boost, with it improving by -1.039. That could be crucial as the group stages progress over the next 12 days or so.

  8. Postpublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Since Southern Brave removed Jonny Bairstow from the seventh ball they've never looked back.

They have completely and utterly dominated Welsh Fire.

  9. Postpublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Southern Brave have won with 41 balls to spare.

Worth reminding you all that they have done that without their captain James Vince, who is unwell, and Chris Jordan, who is injured.

That was a pretty complete performance.

    Two to win.

    England bowler on BBC Two

I feel like it's a tight competition this year. Everyone is showing glimpses of good form but I do like the look of Oval Incvincibles. They are strong in all areas - Jason Roy and Will Jacks at the top, pace with Spencer Johnson and Gus Atkinson and spin from Sunil Narine and Nathan Sowter. They have all bases covered.

  18. Brave 73-1published at 50 balls left

A look at spin for Welsh Fire as Glenn Phillips comes on.

Brave milk him for four runs from the set.

    Just 15 needed to win.

    Four more.

A beautiful piece of timing from stand-in captain Leus du Plooy brings him a boundary through wide long-on.

Brave are 19 away from a victory.
