  3. 'Nice to see the work coming off'published at 21:11 British Summer Time 21 August 2023

Match Hero, Oval Invincibles' Sam Billings: "It has been quite a while since I hit it that well! It has been a long summer so it was nice to see some of the work behind the scenes actually come off. It wasn't the perfect scenario to come in but it was an opportunity to bat and get myself in and then I just played to my strengths. It was really pleaseing to get over the lune.

"It is always there. Sometimes it doesn't feel like that. I put too much pressure on myself to perform. It is nice to clear the head and go out and play like that.

"It is amazing to qualify and go straight to the final. It was big boots to fill with Heinrich Klaasen, he's arguably been the best player in the world in the last year, so it was about someone stepping up and filling those shoes and thankfully I got it done. That is the story of our summer, everybody has stepped up at different times. It has been a real team effort. There isn't a single person in the squad who hasn't played a part in getting through to the final. It's definitely more relaxing going straight through to the final."

Having lost three wickets in the space of three balls early in the chase, Sam Billings survived the hat-trick ball before going on to play one of the competition's best innings so far.

Billings is understandably named Match Hero for his efforts.

Tom Curran has played a couple of very handy cameos for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred so far, and he starts this innings pretty nicely as well.

A perfectly-timed reverse sweep off the spinner Matt Carter finds its way to the boundary from his first ball.

The equation is still well in the Invincibles' favour: they need 40 from 30 balls.
