Remember when we thought spinners would just get hit out of the game in white-ball cricket? Bowlers like Rashid prove their worth time and time again.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 95 balls

    J Overton c Carse b Rashid 2 (Originals 158-5)

    Four wickets for Adil Rashid!

The leg-spinner ends a magnificent spell with a wicket as Jamie Overton hits back down the ground but into the hands of Brydon Carse at long-off.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 92 balls

    Buttler c Brook b Rashid 75 (Originals 156-4)

Jos Buttler's fun is over, he's caught at deep mid-wicket.

He skipped down to Adil Rashid but aimed his shot towards the longest boundary on the ground.

The timing and power were never quite there and Harry Brook takes the catch.

Buttler walks off to a standing ovation but looks frustrated with himself.

  5. 6 runs

    Originals 155-3published at 90 balls

    Buttler 75, Holden 9

    Six!

Jos Buttler gets hold of this one. He was waiting for the short ball from Reece Topley and sends it flat over square leg for his third six.

The ball before he skied but somehow it landed safely as three fielders converged trying to take the catch.

You know it is your day when shots like that are falling in between fielders.

  7. Originals 146-3published at 88 balls

Is this the start of Jos Buttler's late charge?

He tries to hammer the ball over the leg side, doesn't time it and the ball goes a long way up...

...but into the gap between the fielders. One bounce for four.

Jos Buttler brought up his fifty with a big six but we're still waiting for the big explosion from him late in the innings...

  9. Munro takes two in twopublished at 60 balls

    Fire 91-2

Sophie Munro has the breakthrough and how! Two wickets with her first two balls.

A floating, full slower ball befuddles Tammy Beaumont and clean bowls the England opener. Munro follows that up by finding the edge of new batter Laura Harris. The umpire's finger is raised, Harris sends it upstairs immediately but there's a sound on snicko.

Hayley Matthews sees off the hat-trick ball with a four past backward point.

  10. Originals 141-3published at 85 balls

That boundary aside, it's a decent set from Callum Parkinson.

He's finished with figures of 1-31 from 20 balls.

Jos Buttler has the strike with 15 balls left.

  11. Originals 138-3published at 83 balls

    Great shot from Max Holden!

He dances down the track to Callum Parkinson, gives himself a bit of room and cracks the ball through extra cover for four.

  12. Originals 133-3published at 80 balls

A wicket for Adil Rashid, his second of the day, and just five from that set.

The last of them is a single for Jos Buttler, though, so he'll keep strike with 20 balls left in the innings...

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 77 balls

Walter st Banton b Rashid 28 (Originals 129-3)

    Adil Rashid makes the breakthrough!

The Superchargers spinner saw Paul Walter coming, pushed the ball a bit wider, it was the googly as well so the ball spins even further past the bat.

Walter was nowhere near it with the big swing and Tom Banton did the rest.

  14. Postpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 20 August 2023

Adil Rashid will bowl the next five. If anyone can slow the Originals down, you'd think it would be him.

  15. Fire opening partnership holdspublished at 50 balls

    Fire 75-0

Spirit are still in search of a breakthrough as Fire openers Tammy Beaumont (40) and Sophia Dunkley (28) accumulate steadily.

No boundaries in these 10 balls, with Fire slowing down somewhat outside of the powerplay.

  16. Originals 128-2published at 75 balls

    Buttler 57, Walter 28

Flicked leg side for a single by Paul Walter and Northern Superchargers call for a strategic timeout.

They have got plenty to discuss with Jos Buttler and Walter starting to motor.

  17. 6 runs

    Originals 127-2published at 74 balls

It's Paul Walter's turn this time.

He's quickly down and nails the slog-sweep over mid-wicket into the Party Stand!

  19. 6 runs

    Originals 120-2published at 72 balls

Long hop from Matthew Short and Jos Buttler rocks back and lifts the ball over the leg side for six!

He made that look incredibly easy but that is not a particularly short boundary.

  20. 6 runs

50 for Jos Buttlerpublished at 70 balls

    Originals 113-2

Smashed over long on for six! Jos Buttler goes to his half-century in style.
