Mohammad Nabi and, in particular, Rashid Khan played a part in Afghanistan's late surge with some monstrous sixes...
Ibrahim Zadran was still there, though, and brought up a special hundred from 131 balls.
He then kicked on as Afghanistan scored 96 runs in the last 10 overs.
Mitchell Starc accounted for Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi but was then hit for a remarkable six by Azmatullah Omarzai.
Azmat smashed Adam Zampa for six as well but fell to the Aussie spinner soon afterwards...
Ibrahim Zadran reached his half-century in a stand of 83 with Rahmat Shah before the latter rather gave his wicket away...
Time for a recap and look back at some of the best of the action from that Afghanistan innings.
Ibrahim Zadran looked in fine form from the off but Australia were able to oust the dangerous Rahmanullah Gurbaz inside the powerplay...
Afghanistan batter Ibrahim Zadran: "I am feeling very great about the fact that I've become Afghanistan's first World Cup centurion. It is a wonderful achievement for me. I want to score more centuries. I worked really hard for this tournament. I missed my century against Pakistan and that was unfortunate. I felt like I would score a century in the next three matches and I said that to the coaching staff.
"The wicket is very good, the ball is coming on so well. I passed the message onto the changing room that we should target 280-290. We did discuss 300-330 if we get kept wickets in hand but unfortunately we lost a few wickets but Rashid Khan played really well at the end.
"We have a really good bowling attack. We always have a plan against the opposition. Our plan was to score that many so we've done one part and now we just want to bowl and field well.
"I would like to thank Sachin Tendulkar for our chat yesterday - he gave me a lot of confidence and energy."
After all that excitement, Australia need 292 to win.
That would be a record ODI chase at the Wankhede Stadium.
They'll back themselves to do it but Afghanistan, with the spinners they have to choose from will fancy their chances as well.
It's all set up for a very interesting chase.
Mitchell Starc is a lucky boy. He gets away with what looked a clear wide outside off to get out of the over.
Rashid Khan walks off shaking his head but he's played a superb hand for Afghanistan, hitting 35 from 18 balls.
Ibrahim Zadran - Afghanistan's first World Cup centurion - ends unbeaten on 129 from 143 balls. A fabulous knock.

Oh my lord. That is an outrageous shot. It is a helicopter, wrist-cracking shot. How has he done that?
What a shot that is!
Rashid Khan bends down and swats the ball over square leg for six.
Ludricious shot really, more of a tennis shot than anything you'd normally see on a cricket pitch!

Rashid smashed it. It's coming all the way up to the commentary box. Landed two metres away from us!
Muscled all the way for six by Rashid Khan!
Banged in by Mitchell Starc and Rashid dispatches it back down the ground.

Rashid Khan is feeling cheeky now. He looked at the umpire and asked if it's a no-ball.
Wide full toss from Mitchell Starc and Rashid Khan gets a thick outside edge that sends the ball just over short third for four.

Goodness me! The ball scorched past the in-field. Brilliant from Zadran.
Shot! Incredible timing from Ibrahim Zadran as he sends the ball like an arrow through the covers for four.
There was no stopping that.
A wide gives Afghanistan a bonus run and Zadran pulls the last for two.
One over to go...
Slower ball from Pat Cummins and Ibrahim Zadran drags it leg side.
The fielder at cow corner this he's in the game but the ball just clears him - six more for Afghanistan!
I reckon the replays show that did go to ground but it's a game of opinions and all that...
The long and short of it is that Rashid Khan is not out and can still do some damage for Afghanistan in the last couple of overs.
Pat Cummins will bowl the next.

The only reason why that was given not out is because Rashid didn't leave the field.
