Afghanistan's captain has made exactly the right decision. It's baking hot, they are batting first and no one has done that yet at the Wankhede. Can Afghanistan get the 399 Australia got here against Australia? No, but they can get a 280 and they are playing good cricket.

I think Australia have stumbled into their best team here. I don't think Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne should both be in the one-day side, just one of them batting at four.

Australia captain Pat Cummins: "It doesn't change the plans too much. We would have had a bat but it's fine.

"We've got two changes. Steve [Smith] has struggled in the warm-up [after struggling with vertigo this week] and Cameron Green is out too. Glenn Maxwell and Mitch Marsh are back in.

"I'm really happy with how we've gone with five in a row. We've had 14 guys that have played so far and everyone has done well so we feel like whoever comes in it feels pretty seamless.

"It is a bit cooler than a month ago so we'll be fine. We've got plenty of bowling options so if we need to have shorter bowling spells we will."

  4. 'We hope the pitch will favour bowling second'published at 08:19 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2023

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi: "We want to bat first because the wicket looks good and we hope there will be spin and seam in the second innings."

A change of tactics for you?: "We are going well in chasing, but we have to look at the ground and the opposition too."

Advice from Sachin Tendulkar?: "Definitely, he's one of the best players and a legend of this game. He had some words for the team and hopefully we can use those today."

Team news?: "One change, Fazalhaq Farooqi is out and in comes Naveen-ul-Haq."

Hashmatullah Shahidi calls "heads" and it is a heads.

He wants to put a total on the board and then put his spinners to work later on.

    Morning!

After two defeats to start their campaign, Australia have won five in a row to march into the knockout places.

Victory over Afghanistan, who themselves are in contention, will seal a semi-final spot for Pat Cummins' side.

A win for Afghanistan will put them in the top four and will leave them, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan scrapping it out for two places in the final round of games.

    Let's get going.
