I'm calling it now - this is 2011 against Ireland all over again. Nidamanuru to play the O'Brien innings.

    Andy Thompson, Elvington

  2. Ned 119-5published at 27 overs

    Target 340

Just four from that Gus Atkinson over, only two off the bat plus a couple of leg byes.

There is plenty more intent from the Netherlands since the fall of the last wicket but, so far, it is not leading to too many more runs.

Willey's dropped it. It was a horrible slog to mid-on. I can't really make any excuses for that from Willey.

  4. dropped catch

Nidamanaru dropped on 5published at 26.3 overs

    Ned 118-5

It has not been Gus Atkinson's day so far.

He thought he had his first wicket when Joe Root took the catch that was then controversially given not out by the third umpire and now he's had Teja Nidamanuru dropped.

The batter completely mistimed a shot aimed over mid-on but David Willey couldn't hold on as the ball dropped over his shoulder.

That's big, it's gone a long way. Edwards got down on one knee and slog swept that straight. He may as well try and play some shots to rattle a couple of players out there.

  6. 6 runs

    Ned 115-5published at 26 overs

    Target 340

Googly from Adil Rashid but it's too short and Teja Nidamanuru is able to go back and play a lovely cut shot for four.

And Scott Edwards slog-sweeps the last ball of the over for six. His bottom hand comes off the bat as he plays it but he has the power to clear the rope.

Rashid tried to bowl that one with a bit more front spin. De Leede is a little bit unlucky there.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 25.3 overs

    De Leede b Rashid 10 (Ned 104-5)

    Bowled 'im!

Having chopped the previous ball down to deep third for four, Bas de Leede tries to repeat the trick but gets a thick edge onto the stumps, via his boot.

The ball from Adil Rashid just skidded through that bit quicker to deceive the right-hander.

Five down, five to go for England.

Great bowling from Willey. Give that man a contract - oh, wait a minute...

    Vinny, Hindhead

  10. Ned 99-4published at 25 overs

    Target 340

Just a pair of singles from the next five balls in the David Willey over.

The Netherlands are halfway through this innings, they're four down and need 9.64 runs an over from here.

After yesterday's madness, I'm loathe to completely write anyone off but the Dutch don't look particularly interested in even trying to get to 340 at this point.

  11. Ned 97-4published at 24.1 overs

    Target 340

    You've done it now, Jay...

Bas de Leede pulls the first ball of David Willey's next over away for four.

This Willey chap seems to be a great find, definitely worth offering a central contract to.

That's a wide for the Dutch, another 100 of those would help.

  14. Ned 93-4published at 24 overs

    Target 340

Good from Adil Rashid as, the ball after a leg-side wide, he beats Bas de Leede with a probing delivery that turns just a fraction past the edge.

    Only three from the over.

  15. Ned 90-4published at 23 overs

    Target 340

Bas de Leede is the new batter for the Netherlands but can't get either of the last two deliveries from David Willey away.

The England left-arm seamer has figures of 2-13 from his first six overs. Impressive.

That's the right approach, the right shot, it's just the execution just wasn't quite there with it.

Engelbrecht is out this time. England will feel that justice has prevailed this time.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 22.4 overs

    Engelbrecht c Woakes b Willey 33 (Ned 90-4)

    Now Sybrand Engelbrecht is gone.

He tries to hit David Willey up and over mid-on, doesn't get enough on it and Chris Woakes takes a sharp catch above his head.

It was there to be hit but Engelbrecht didn't get the requisite connection.

Here is that Joe Root 'catch' and the six from Sybrand Engelbrecht that really poured salt into the England wounds...
