Keshav Maharaj's job there is to just get David Miller back on strike, not step away and try to hit Mitchell Starc down the ground. Just take an easy single.

  2. wicket

    Maharaj c Smith b Starc (SA 191-8)

David Miller is running out of partners!

Keshav Maharaj has enough of prodding the singles to get Miller back on strike, trying to launch Mitchell Starc into the stands. The ball flies high up off the edge to mid-off, where Steve Smith gobbles a comfortable catch.

The Kolkata crowd are enjoying this from David Miller. They're going to get some sort of contest now they think.

  4. SA 190-7published at 46 overs

    Decent recovery from Pat Cummins.

Here is how he got the wicket of Gerald Coetzee, who should still be there if he was a better reviewer.

This semi has all the ingredients to create an ODI for the purists. A 230 chase that goes down to the final over.

  6. SA 187-7published at 45.2 overs

Shot! David Miller moves into the 90s with a crunching pull shot for four as Pat Cummins bangs in a short ball.

  7. SA 182-7published at 45 overs

Fair play. Adam Zampa drags it back after the first ball boundary, just four more coming from the rest of the over.

David Miller has got to flick the switch soon.

What I cannot understand is Adam Zampa is bowling these loopy leg-breaks to David Miller. He needs to bowl it quick and across Miller otherwise he will just hit it for six. You don't want it bowled to left-handed batters in their hitting arc.

  9. SA 178-7published at 44.1 overs

With Hazlewood and Starc still having overs left, I cannot understand why Adam Zampa is still bowling.

His first ball is short thrashed for four by Miller.

Gerald Coetzee has had a bit of nightmare here. He thinks he's got glove on it but it's hit his shoulder. How did he not feel it? Very odd. You cannot blame the umpire for giving it out. Maybe it's because they only had one review left.

  11. SA 174-7published at 44 overs

Oh, Gerald Coetzee! Replays show there was no glove, and the ball brushed his shoulder!

David Miller was trying to convince him into reviewing it, but for some reason decided not to. With one review remaining, perhaps he didn't want to waste it and save it for Miller, but it would have certainly been overturned.

Good bowling from Pat Cummins. It was quick and dug into the pitch and had the tiniest feather on it. David Miller was pleading with him to review it, but Gerald Coetzee knew there was something on it.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 43.3 overs

    Coetzee c Inglis b Cummins 19 (SA 172-7)

    Pat Cummins strikes!

The short ball works as Gerald Coetzee gets a glove on one through to the keeper, attempting to pull. They debate a review but Coetzee clearly knows he's got something on it, and trudges off.

A brave effort from the number eight, but David Miller has no choice but to go big now.

  14. SA 171-6published at 43 overs

Zampa recovers well, just another single from the rest of the over.

Hazlewood and Starc have got two overs left each, so I'm not sure how many more the spinners will get here.

    And there it is.

Miller's patience pays off as he whacks Adam Zampa down the ground for six.

    Perfectly flat and remarkably powerful.

This position felt a long way off for South Africa at 24-4 with Australia wreaking havoc. They have dragged themselves into a position where they could get to 213 which would be romantic given that semi-final in 1999.

  17. SA 164-6published at 42 overs

    Very good from Australia.

There is nothing in David Miller's arc for him to punish. A test of his patience, this.

It's all about patience for David Miller now. He has the power to get South Africa towards something reasonable.

Of course, it's the unplayable Travis Head.

And of course, there are no boundaries from it because he is that good.

Two off the over from Maxwell, who is bowled out and finishes with a tidy 0-35.

10 overs to go. What is the best South Africa can hope for from here?
