Gone! A quiet start no more.

The India players are running away in celebration as Renuka Singh Thakur knocks back Tammy Beaumont's off stump with a beauty.

It's a good ball, a really good ball, but Beaumont was stuck on the crease again like so many England batters were yesterday.

  2. Eng 27-0published at 6 overs

Tammy Beaumont has got so low in leaving a ball that she was almost lower than the stumps.

Tammy Beaumont is going to go down fighting as she adds two more boundaries in Renuka Singh's next over. The second was an aggressive pull to a ball that wasn't even that short.

This is a decent start by England.

    Dunkley 7, Beaumont 8

    Shot!

Tammy Beaumont was a little tentative in the first innings even before she was run out but now skips down the pitch to whack her first boundary back down the ground.

Later in the over there are yelps of catch as one skews away off the inside edge/glove.

    Things are happening.

Well England look a little more secure than the first innings.

There isn't the same intense chatter from the India fielders. It's still early, I guess.

  6. Eng 7-0published at 2 overs

    Target 479

It seems Sophia Dunkley's plan against the spinners is going to be to get down on one knee and paddle. She does it immediately and secures two runs before repeating the shot and getting four.

Who is up with me? Anyone still awake after a night of Christmas partying? I want to hear from you if so.

Unsurprisingly after the first-innings shambles, England are going to have to face spin from the start.

Off-spinner Sneh Rana will share the new ball.

  8. Eng 1-0published at 1 over

    Dunkley 1, Beaumont 0

Sophia Dunkley looked out of nick in the first innings before she was bowled by Renuka Singh Thakur. Renuka is on the money right away, probing away with some inswinging deliveries but Dunkley is up to the task for now.

She prods away a single to secure England's first run.

  9. Eng 0-0published at 04:01 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    Target 479

I'm surprised India have declared already. They have so much time left in the game.

Maybe Harmanpreet Kaur just fancies a Sunday off.

We're ready to go. Time for someone to do something special...

  10. England looking to take game on - Deanpublished at 03:58 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

England all-rounder Charlie Dean: "The batting innings didn't quite go as planned. To go and bowl the way I did I can take a lot of confidence from that. India played conditions very well.

"India bowled a little slower than we did but I think that is just their natural pace. The India spinners put the ball in good areas and challenged both sides of the bat.

"We have looked at how we will get 500 runs. It is not going to be easy but we are feeling positive. There is only one way to look at the game now, to take it on."

  11. India declare overnightpublished at 03:55 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2023

    I take it all back!

It seems India have declared overnight.

England need 479 runs to win.

Unless England can take some quick wickets, this morning is all about how long before Indian captain Hamrmanpreet Kaur declares.

She's currently 44 not out and has not made a Test fifty so you can guess it might be a little while yet.

    Good morning.

Have you dragged yourself out of bed, possibly for one last time? Maybe you're following from under the covers? Or perhaps still going strong on the big Christmas night out.

    Whichever way, settle in.

England have a huge fight on their hands as we start the penultimate day of this Test. India will resume shortly on 186-6 with a lead of 478.

Day two was a shocker for England.

They're left needing a Christmas miracle.
