  1. Eng 74-1published at 14 overs

India restrict Ollie Pope's scoring, diving in the field and refuse to allow him any easy singles.

Ashwin looks up for the challenge, despite his relative ineffectiveness (by his standards) in the first Test.

The sweep is that much more important against Kuldeep Yadav because whether you are reading him from the hand or not, the fact that he's slower in the air means his natural length is fuller. He's not half as effective when he goes that bit shorter or quicker in the air.

I'm not 100% sure that England are picking Kuldeep Yadav. That's a decent shot though... if you can't pick him then sweep him over mid-wicket for six.

  4. Eng 72-1published at 13 overs

Zak Crawley's having a pretty good birthday so far.

  5. 50 runs

50 for Zak Crawleypublished at 12.4 overs

    Eng 72-1

    And he reaches a 52-ball half-century with a six!

  6. Eng 66-1published at 12.2 overs

Not that Zak Crawley is feeling the pressure. He drives Kuldeep Yadav down the ground for four more.

Definitely didn't plan on being up this early on a Saturday but as I am I might as well be productive and follow the cricket!

  8. Eng 62-1published at 12 overs

Best of luck with that, Harry.

And best of luck to Ollie Pope playing this one from Ashwin. A beauty turns, bounces up past his outside edge and just evades his off stump.

Spinners working their magic at the moment. Rohit Sharma must be furious with Ravindra Jadeja's hamstring right now.

Following the cricket on the way to Rome for the rugby today. Currently stuck on the tarmac of Stansted airport and looking like a deplaning is on the cards!

Ollie Pope is an itchy starter normally, but if he gets in India know how destructive he can be. The first 20-30 balls in his innings are crucial.

  11. Eng 59-1published at 11 overs

Here's the hero of Hyderabad, Ollie Pope.

And he's almost stumped first ball!

And then he's nearly run out!

Funny what a wicket can do. All of a sudden, it's unplayable.

That is a good bit of bowling. He pushed it through a little bit quicker and there was bounce and spin.

Ben Duckett should have reverse swept it...

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.2 overs

    Duckett c Patidar b Kuldeep 21 (Eng 59-1)

    India fight back!

Ben Duckett doesn't even get a chance to test out his reverse sweep. He prods defensively at Kuldeep Yadav, gets an outside edge and Rajat Patidar takes a simple catch at short leg.

England's momentum is stalled - for now.

The problem for Rohit Sharma now is that one of his wicket-taking bowlers has just been hit for 16 for Zak Crawley.

India are on the back foot straight away, going at almost six runs an over.

The way this England team bat not only puts world-class bowlers under pressure but the captain as well. He has to think on his feet and he needs to get a wicket. Rohit Sharma can't let it drift again.

  16. Eng 59-0published at 10 overs

Four overs into the afternoon session and India are looking pretty aggrieved.

Crawley frustrates Ashwin with a tickle for four just past leg slip. The bowler has both hands on his hips, giving it the double teapot and letting out a big sigh of frustration.

What I love about England’s approach is how they snatch all the initiative from the bowlers.

This is wonderful from Zak Crawley.

  19. Eng 54-0published at 9 overs

Oh, and driven beautifully down the ground for another - twice!

England are motoring along. A fifty partnership in no time, and Jasprit Bumrah can't believe anyone has the audacity to do this to him.

Four boundaries in the over. Ridiculous.

England are looking to carry on after lunch and put pressure on the India bowling attack. That is a fantastic pull shot from Zak Crawley. The runs are coming freely for England.
