All times stated are UK

  1. WICKET Gay c Simpson b Seales 5

    Sussex v Northants 5-1

    Out!

Jayden Selaes strikes with the first ball of his second over. Emilio Gay tries to glance it to fine leg and that's an outstanding catch from John Simpson, diving and tumbling to his right.

Northants skipper Luke Procter is in next, somewhat earlier than he might have hoped.

  2. 'Robinson four wickets shy of 400'

    Sussex v Northants 5-0

    Adrian Harms

    BBC Sussex

Ollie Robinson is just four wickets shy of 400 for Sussex in first-class cricket.

  3. Post update

    Warwks v Worcs 165-1

Kashif Ali drives OHD through cover for four to move to 59.

Just the two from the over.

OHD loses his run up again at one point as the crosswind disrupts his flow.

    Frustrating times for the hosts.

  4. Post update

    Sussex v Northants 4-0

Emilio Gay gets Northants off the mark with a flick through mid wicket for four off the fifth ball of the Robinson over, a tad full and leg side.

Jayden Seales is one of three on debut for Sussex today and the West Indies player will bowl the second over.

His third ball squares up Justin Broad, who gets a thick outside edge into the gully, all along the ground.

  5. Post update

    Notts v Essex 120-2

Plenty of sunshine now at Trent Bridge, but not much else to cheer the Nottinghamshire crowd at the moment as Dean Elgar and Jordan Cox continue making steady progress.

The Essex pair have now put on 68 so far for the third wicket and haven't given the home bowlers a sniff of an opportunity so far in this afternoon session.

  6. Post update

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 186-2

A lovely shot from Sam Northeast gets him three through the covers off Toby Roland-Jones.

It would have been four, but the pitch is on the far side of the square, much closer to the Tavern and Mound Stands.

Ethan Bamber's sliding stop digs up a bit of turf - a sign that even Lord's is feeling the effect of all the rain we've had.

Northeast is now on 94, one blow away from a century.

  7. Play begins at Hove

    Sussex v Northants 0-0

Hats off to the ground staff here. They had a lot of rain to contend with leading up to this game - and in theory we have the best part of two full sessions of play to come before stumps tonight.

Emilio Gay will face Ollie Robinson to get us started.

    Three slips in place.

Justin Broad at the other end.

  8. Post update

    Warwks v Worcs 157-1

Michael Booth is bowling full outside off and Kashif Ali defends on the front foot.

OHD is full and straight - again with a very short mid on in place.

Roderick blocks out the over until the fifth ball, which is shorter and tapped behind square on the leg side for one.

  9. 'Credit to the ground staff'

    Sussex v Northants 0-0

    Andrew Radd

    BBC Radio Northampton

Full credit to the ground staff here at Hove who have done a terrific job. They've worked tirelessly since very early this morning to get the ground playable.

  10. Post update

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 180-2

Halfway through the day's play and Glamorgan are in an excellent position.

Sam Northeast is on 89 and Kiran Carlson has settled in to move to 18.

  11. Post update

    Notts v Essex 120-2

Our first sighting of spin at Trent Bridge and it comes in the 32nd over as Nottinghamshire skipper Haseeb Hameed throws the ball to Calvin Harrison.

A good start by the leggie, turning his first delivery past Dean Elgar's outside edge - but he finishes the over with a loose ball that Jordan Cox gratefully slaps to the cover boundary.

  12. 50 for Kashif Ali

    Warwks v Worcs 151-1

OHD has been done by the crosswind again as he stops his run up and the umpire almost loses his hat.

His second ball of the over is short and cut away for four by Kashif Ali.

That's his fourth half century in first class cricket - and this one comes off 92 balls with seven fours.

  13. Play to begin at 15:40 BST at Headingley

    Yorkshire v Leicestershire

Good news from Leeds where play will start at 15:40 BST, if the weather holds up.

There will be a possible 46 overs in the day.

With Lancashire and Durham abandoned, Headingley could be the only northern ground to see any play today.

  14. Post update

    Notts v Essex 112-2

Nottinghamshire continue to rotate their seamers, with Brett Hutton back for his second spell and he bowls five tidy deliveries before the final one is smoked back past him for four by Jordan Cox.

At the other end, Dillon Pennington has continued to impress on debut, inducing plenty of playing and missing from Dean Elgar.

But you feel the visitors are starting to get on top now and this third-wicket partnership is now worth 54, with Elgar on 59 and Cox 22.

  15. Sussex to bowl first at Hove

    Sussex v Northants

The coin lands in new Sussex captain John Simpson's favour and the visitors will bat.

51 overs scheduled for the day if the weather allows - with tea earmarked for 4.35pm.

Aside from the captain, Danny Lamb and Jayden Seales will also debut for Sussex today.

Emilio Gay and Justin Broad will open the batting for Northants, who hand first-team debuts to George Bartlett (formerly of Somerset) and Michael Finan, who joins the club having previously played for Leicestershire.

  16. Post update

    Warwks v Worcs 146-1

Booth bowls short and wide. Roderick is on the back foot, slapping the ball through backward point for four.

The fifth ball is full and worked to long leg for one.

Two more for Kashif Ali with a tap to mid wicket.

  17. Post update

    Warwks v Worcs 139-1

A brief drama as Roderick gets a top edge off an attempted pull but the ball lands safely in front of mid wicket.

He turns the fifth ball away square for a single to move to 51.

  18. for Dean Elgar

    Notts v Essex 99-2

    Dean Elgar (Essex)

Well, you'd probably have put money on Dean Elgar marking his Essex debut with a significant score.

The left-hander gets to his half-century from 86 balls, driving Lyndon James for a three on the offside and he and Jordan Cox have now put together a partnership of 41.

  19. Post update

    Warwks v Worcs 138-1

Warwickshire have used six bowlers so far and while the run rate has been pegged back since lunch, it's hard to see a wicket coming via anything other than a batting error.

Roderick turns Booth round the corner for a single to move to 51.

Kashif Ali tries to force the last ball away off the back foot but there's no run. Good stop by Dan Mousley on the off side.

OHD is back in the attack from the Birmingham End.

  20. Get Involved

    #bbccricket

Jon Hayes: It’s not acceptable - for all of us. The big day arrives, & 4/9 have gone this way! We are up against the IPL, other formats in our own country, other sports, other leisure activities, & the CC is again a literal & figurative washout: I’m upset. #bbccricket

We feel your pain Jon. Fingers crossed, we get play at Hove and Headingley soon.
