    George Russell and Kimi Antonelli are going to be investigated after the session for failing to follow the race director's instructions. The two Mercedes drivers were at the end of the pit lane before the resumption time was confirmed.

    Max Verstappen was on for an eye-catching lap but things just aren't going the Dutchman's way tonight in Bahrain. He's once again left with no time on the board and the clock ticking.

    Italian teenager Kimi Antonelli is the first to complete his lap and clocks a 1:31.178 to go top of the timesheets. George Russell is next to finish his attempt but is a few tenths of his team-mate.

    Lando Norris goes quickest but his McLaren buddy is right on his tail. The Australian is the man to topple with a 1:30.454.

    It doesn't happen that often but when it does it's a costly error and that is what Esteban Ocon has done.

    I suspect what Esteban Ocon has done is he's gone too hard through Turn Two and taken too much throttle, lost the rear and smashed into the barriers on the outside.

    The recovery truck is on the scene and the mangled Haas is being loaded on to be taken away for some emergency repairs.

    A radio message from Nico Hulkenberg reveals the Sauber driver nearly lost it at the same spot as Ocon.

    "Sorry, really sorry, guys," Esteban Ocon tells his pit wall. His engineer, Laura Mueller replies the main thing is he is OK. The Frenchman touched the kerb at the exit at Turn Two and was sent into a spin and backwards into the barriers.

    He's got to be able to build up and if he can continue to build his confidence along with that will come the lap time.
