It's also worth noting that at the latest GAA congress, the rule around red cards and extra-time changed.

Traditionally Sligo would have been restored to 15 for the extra-time period as it was deemed a new game. That is no longer the case and the red card carries, so the Connacht men will play this additional period with 14.

Goal for Sligo - Mulliganpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 23 June 2024

    Down 0-13 Sligo 2-11

That was almost the most comical own goal we have ever seen here at Croke Park.

Pat Havern's effort at a point dropped short and was flicked towards his own goal by Sligo full back Eddie McGuinness, requiring an immense save from Aidan Devanney.

Sligo go down to the other end and Paul McNamara flicks it to Canice Mulligan who punches into the net!
