  2. 'McLaren are not handling this very well'

    I just don't think McLaren are handling this very well, Oscar Piastri said 10 laps ago that he wanted to have a go at racing Max Verstappen and they could have swapped the drivers back towards the end, but even have a go at least.

  3. No-one has won the Japanese Grand Prix four times in a row but Max Verstappen looks set to do just that now. He leads Lando Norris by 1.1s with a couple of laps to go.

  4. Carlos Sainz is making more moves as this time he sweeps around the outside of Jack Doohan down into Turn One and he is up to 14th.

  5. Oscar Piastri is dropping back now and is 1.3s behind Lando Norris.

    It is looking like the top three is going to finish as it currently stands.

    I am slightly surprised that McLaren haven't swapped them but they have said that this early on the championship they are going to treat it fairly.

    Once again Oscar Piastri has to settle behind his team-mate Lando Norris and I do just wonder what are McLaren thinking here?

  8. Oscar Piastri remains within touching distance of Lando Norris - the gap between the two is eight tenths of a second.

    However, Max Verstappen has just increased his lead by a couple of tenths and is looking comfortably in control.

  9. Carlos Sainz finally picks off Nico Hulkenberg with a move down the main straight and he is up to 15th - where he started the race.

  10. Kimi Antonelli is told he is the fastest man on the track. "I'm giving it everything, mate!" he responds.

    He remains sixth, 2.8s behind George Russell.

    Lando Norris really needs to try and get into DRS on the main straight, the McLarens are running out of time.

  13. The laps are running out for McLaren to make a move for the win as Max Verstappen remains 1.1s ahead.

  14. Carlos Sainz goes quicker again down in 16th but he's not yet had the opportunity to make a move on Nico Hulkenberg.

  15. Oscar Piastri is not showing enough now really to potentially force a decision from McLaren as Lando Norris now pushes, closing the gap between himself and Max Verstappen to 1.1s.

    We all thought the McLarens would walk the race today, that has not come true with Max Verstappen doing what he does best and holding onto this lead and proving to be once again full of class.

  18. Carlos Sainz sets the fastest lap of the race on softs and that sees him close in on Nico Hulkenberg in 15th. There's around 0.8s between the two.

  19. The top three, barring any drama, will be on the podium because Charles Leclec in fourth is 10 seconds behind Oscar Piastri.
