  1. Myth of the Mountain: The Beast of Provencepublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

It's the Voldemort of climbs - he who shall not be named.

But why has Mount Ventoux got legendary status?

Let this mini-documentary from BBC Radio 5 live tell you...

Why is Mont Ventoux - the Beast of Provence - such an iconic Tour de France climb?

  2. Etixx on the pullpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

    50km to go

This is in an interesting bit of data - it shows that between 90 and 110km, Etixx-Quick Step did 68% of the peloton pulling.

Team Sky, after helping with the initial break from the peloton, have been happy to relinquish the workload.

  3. Aru's return, againpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

All that, help from his team notwithstanding, will have taken some puff out of Fabio Aru, who is now back with the Chris Froome group.

Aru is 1min 35secs adrift in the yellow jersey classification.

  4. Aru off his bike againpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

Fabio Aru, who has been on a team-mate's bike, drops off the front group of the peloton and retrieves his own bike, complete with repairs.

But he's got a job on to catch the peloton.

An engineer from the team car leans out and tightens a bolt on his bike while he's moving - i'm sure he doesn't give a cheeky push too.

The Tour de France official on a motorbike nearby gives a toot of his whistle to warn the Astana team not to help their man too much.

Aru then sits in the slipstream of his support car.

There's another toot of the whistle.

Eventually the driver is given a talking to.

Playing with fire there, was Fabio.

  7. A rush for Arupublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

    63.7km to go

A quick pit stop for Fabio Aru. He has a technical issue and jumps off his bike and hops on to a team-mate's sharpish.

It's a slick changeover - Astana have been practicing.

And before you know it, Aru is clambering on to the back of the front group of the peloton.

Who said covering the Tour was glamorous?

The BBC Radio 5 live team - Rob Hayles, Rob Hatch and OJ Borg (from left to right) - have pitched up for a pizza, with the stench of the nearby sewerage works floating over.

    Bon appetit boys.

And speaking of the green jersey, we reach our only intermediate sprint of the day at Molleges-Gare.

It's Andre Griepel, 99 points behind points leader Sagan, first under the banner, followed by iljo Keisse.

That surprise move amid the peloton has decreased the gap between the breakaway and the peloton to 15 minutes.

  15. Giant drop backpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

Barguil's Giant-Alpecin team-mates, including Tom Dumoulin, have had to drop back to help out their yellow jersey contender.

And another Frenchman, Warren Barguil, has failed to keep with the Team Sky-Etixx-Quick Step jaunt.

Barguil is 3mins 3secs behind Chris Froome in the yellow jersey chase.

  17. Pinot falterspublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

Thibaut Pinot, 30th in the yellow jersey rankings, is one of the riders to be caught out by that move. He's not gone with the front group.

  18. Sky and Etixx make movepublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 14 July 2016

Here we go. Business is picking up.

An unholy alliance has been formed between Ettix-Quick Step and Team Sky and they make a sudden break from the peloton in an exposed stretch of road. The crosswinds have caught plenty of riders out and split the peloton into four sections.

As the peloton sweeps over a bridge across the Rhone into Beaucaire, it's Team Sky very much dictating the pace at the front.

They seem to be getting a bit more of a jog on - so expect that gap to the breakaway to start decreasing.
