Team Sky continuing at the front of the peloton. The main bunch is about four minutes and 27 seconds behind Warren Barguil's group at the head of the race.

Behind Barguil's group of five, Thibaut Pinot, Bauke Mollema and Thomas de Gendt are among 23 riders about to join them and form a big old 28.

So we're not too far now from crossing into the département of Lozère, which for me at least is pretty interesting. Compared with what's going on out on the road I'd suggest it's hugely exciting.

Lozère is the least densely populated département in all of mainland France, with an average of 15 people per square kilometre. If you're on the lookout for a bolthole away from western civilisation, it's perfect. Just don't all go at once.

Christopher M. Selby: I went for Thibaut Pinot of FDJ and maybe Dani Navarro of Cofidis this morning looks like they are biding their time.

Matt Taggart: It's so much easier keeping track of Froome when he wears yellow! The last few days have been so confusing!

Warren Barguil does claim those two points. Uncontested.

But where's the banner marking the summit? There is none. Taken down because of wind? It looks a pretty still day. Sunny too.

The 23 riders trailing Barguil's group of five are closing behind them - just one minute and 16 seconds is the gap now. It's narrowing. Surely they'll come together soon.

The peloton are soaking up the rays, with Team Sky at the front. They're over four and a half minutes behind the lead group.

Warren Barguil is just about to go over the Cote de Vieurals, a category-three climb.

Once over the top, the race flattens out a bit before heading down to the day's intermediate sprint.

Here's a reminder of the stage profile.

After a pretty dramatic start - attack, counter attack, rinse and repeat - the race is now settling down.

But the gap between Warren Barguil's group of five and the 23 riders chasing behind is narrowing slightly. It's about one minute and 25 seconds now.

King of the Mountains leader Barguil wants the points over this next climb - the category-three Côte de Vieurals. There are only two at stake but every little bit counts, right?

Speaking of sprinters, the punchy Michael Matthew is in that group of 23. The Australian is second behind Marcel Kittel in the race for the green jersey.

Will he manage to catch the lead group before the intermediate sprint? There are points at stake, and Matthews will want to maximise his claim.

There's about 60km of asphalt before then.

Always tough for the pure sprinters, a day like this. Andre Greipel will have had better birthdays.

Three becomes five as Warren Barguil's lead group expands at the front of the race. Dylan van Baarle and Tsgabu Grmay are joining in. Serge Pauwels and Damiano Caruso are there too.

Back down the road, about a minute and 43 seconds behind, is a further group of 23 that contains Thibaut Pinot, Bauke Mollema and Thomas de Gendt.

Then it's the peloton - where Team Sky are settling in to protect Chris Froome. They are three minutes and 22 seconds behind Barguil's group.

Team Sky are firmly ensconced in the first six positions at the front of the peloton now.

Movistar's Jonathan Castroviejo went past them earlier and there was barely a flinch as they raised the pace to reel him back in. They'll be quick to chase down any more dangerous moves. You get the feeling Alberto Contador will at some point try again though.

Movistar are still without a stage win at this year's edition. Disappointing for them. Nairo Quintana has looked tired, and Alejandro Valverde was forced out injured. It's not exactly gone to plan.

Warren Barguil extends his King of the Mountains lead as the Frenchman crosses over the category-one Montée de Naves d'Aubrac in first place. He worked hard for that.

The Frenchman now has 104 points in the race for the polka dot jersey. Thomas de Gendt is is second, way down on 36 points. Barguil should easily wrap that up.

Serge Pauwels was just behind him, followed by Damiano Caruso.

Their lead over the peloton is close to three minutes now.

    The plot thickens!

Alberto Contador is out to play today. He's one of several to counter attack at the front of the peloton - Bauke Mollema is doing the same, while Tony Gallopin has already burst out and has joined the group just behind the leaders on the road.

For a moment it looks like Contador might be able to break loose too, but Team Sky are marking his card.

Out at the very front of the race, Warren Barguil is dragging two others towards the top of the day's first climb - Damiano Caruso and Serge Pauwels.

Barguil heads a group of six that have peeled off from what was initially a breakaway of 10 riders. Relentless pace. The lead over the peleton is increasing, even with the main bunch riding hard up the climb.

Tony Martin is one of those to have slipped out of the early break. Can they bridge back?

Mollema is soon reeled back in. A heady pace at the front of the peloton. Dan Martin is right in there, sipping gingerly at another bowl of pain.

Warren Barguil really wants those points on offer for going over the climb first.

Bauke Mollema springs out of the peloton as the main bunch hits the base of the first climb of the day - a category one ascent. Is he looking to breach towards the breakaway group?

Up the road, King of the Mountains leader Warren Barguil is at the head of the group of 10 who are about one minute, 25 seconds ahead.

Dan Martin is really looking forward to the rest day.

The Quick-Step Floors rider, sixth in the general classification, has been dragging himself along with a back injury.

"It has been a brutal week," said the Irish 30-year-old after Saturday's stage.

"Everybody is tired. Nobody is really feeling good. It is a battle of the mind."

Also definitely worth mentioning that Rob's words below are part of a preview written before the race began.

He names Dan Martin as one to watch, but I'm sure if you asked him this morning he'd give you a different rider to look our for. And there's a reason for that...
