So the peloton are just free-wheeling out of Montgeron - the reason is that tradition dictates the race is effectively neutralised until they reach the finishing circuit in Paris.

Expect Chris Froome to be handed a customary glass of champagne soon, too.

Yes, the 21st and final stage of the Tour finishes in the French capital with what should be a frenetic sprint down the Champ Elysees.

The riders will roll out of Montgeron shortly and complete a gentle 45km or so before entering a circuit they will do eight laps of before the finish.

It's a largely processional affair until the racing heats up in the last few laps - and convention dictates that no-one will attack the yellow jersey, hence why we can say that Chris Froome has effectively sealed the title.

A famous stage win is very much up for grabs though...

  4. Hellopublished at 15:30

Long days sitting down, experiencing constant highs and lows over 20 punishing stages so far.

And that's just you, dear reader, joining me on these live texts.

Spare a thought for the riders - even taking part in this mad, beautiful, at times infuriating but always intriguing race is an immense achievement.

Finishing it is even better, and winning the thing is just mind-boggling - chapeau Chris Froome, a fourth title will be his at the finish line today.

And what a finish line it is - the Champs Elysees. No matter how much the race takes out of you as a rider, you'll always have Paris.
