  2. 'Such a good day'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 20 September 2017

Some quotes from winner Tom Dumoulin. He says: "I cant believe it. It is amazing. I had such a good day. I felt really good.

"It started raining and I had to take the corners really slow. Every corner the back wheel was slipping.

"I was doubting for a long time about the bike change. But I saw the climb for the first time last Friday. Yesterday I made the decision not to change and take the risk. I am one of the guys who can make the climb on the TT bike."

Slovenia's Primoz Roglic is an incredibly talented sportsman. When he was younger he competed as a ski jumper, winning the world junior championships in 2007, before becoming a professional cyclist in 2012.

All the medallists suffered the same conditions. You could not tell it was raining with Dumoulin, though. He was the master of the event today. Nobody was going to beat him.

It has been a long year for Froome. This was one race too far.

  19. Worth the risk?published at 16:34 British Summer Time 20 September 2017

    Chris Boardman
Olympic cycling champion on BBC TV

A lot of scientific insight suggested to me that a bike change can be worth up to 12 seconds. You need to factor into that the change-over time. It is high risk for the advantage it can give you.
