Defending champion Geraint Thomas, speaking to ITV4: "I feel good. I had a nice rest day and I'm looking forward to the next five days.

"There are big five days to come but we're up for it and hopefully we'll be in a good position at the end of it.

"We obviously look at the forecast and we're expecting the worst after the other day. Some teams might be keen to try something after stage 10 and there might be a bit more stress after what happened before.

"But we'll keep riding like we are and hopefully it'll all be good."

It looks like the peloton are happy with that four-man break and there are no counter-attacks for now at least.

Perhaps no surprise to see Lilian Calmejane in the break - he's local to Albi and trains on these roads.

He has pedigree in long days in the break and won stage eight of the 2017 Tour after going solo near the end of a tough route.

The flag comes down and four riders zip off the front straight away.

One is Anthony Perez of Cofidis, who comes from Toulouse, where today's stage finishes.

Julian Alaphilippe didn't get too much rest from the crowds yesterday, with plenty of fans out in force to see their home hero who currently wears the yellow jersey.

"It's really nice to see all these people out here for me - I love it," the Frenchman told ITV4.

The peloton have just started the neutral roll out from Albi.

A total of 170 riders set off today, with just six withdrawals so far.

Katusha Alpecin sprinter Rick Zabel pulled out before the start of today's stage because of the flu.

Those general classification riders will be hoping for not too much stress, but those who lost out on stage 10 might be looking to try something today.

After this flat stage, there are three crucial mountain stages and a 27.2km time trial before the next rest day.

A run of five days that should be pivotal to who wins the 2019 Tour de France.

Welcome to live coverage of stage 11 of the 2019 Tour de France.

After a rest day, the racing starts again in Albi, with a bunch sprint finish expected in Toulouse.

But not a day for the general classification contenders to just coast through - as Monday's stage 10 showed.

Crosswinds caused a late split in the peloton then, catching out the likes of Thibaut Pinot, Jakob Fuglsang and Rigoberto Uran.

Defending champion Geraint Thomas made sure to get himself the right side of it to move up to second overall, one minute 12 seconds behind yellow jersey Julian Alaphilippe.
