World champion Mads Pedersen: "Unbelievable. I didn't expect this when we started this morning.
"The plan was to get me out in the early move in the finale and then get Michael Valgren and Jakob Fuglsang to come up from behind but they didn't' follow Mathieu van der Poel and Matteo Trentin when they came up to my group.
"At that point it was just survive and hope for the best in the sprint.
"I just hoped that when I saw the finish line all the pain would be gone and I could do a good spint. Everyone is on the limit so anything could happen in that spinrt.
"You have to be focused the whole day and stay near the front. Don't get any bad luck and hope for the best.
"It's every rider's dream to wear the rainbow jersey. For me to do it now is unbelievable."
Tao Geoghegan Hart was the top British finisher in 26th.
He says they tried all they could for Ben Swift but it was too hard in the end.
He looks absolutely broken.
Mads Pedersen has just said unbelievable several times in his post-race interview.

Gianni Moscon held on for fourth and Peter Sagan's late attack enabled him to take fifth.
Mads Pedersen's best result to date was second in the 2018 Tour of Flanders and he has an impressive palmares at the junior level.
But few could have seen this coming from the 23-year-old Dane.
He absolutely devastated Trentin in that sprint, got on the wheel and zipped round him.
Mads Pedersen was dropped on a ramp in that final lap but gritted it out and got himself back on.
He then went and defied the form book by outsprinting Matteo Trentin.
What a sublime effort.
Matteo Trentin was spent. He was the fastest finisher on paper but didn't have the legs after 270km.
The Italian held on for silver, with Stefan Kung claiming bronze.
Utter elation for Mads Pedersen. Trentin is distraught.
HE HAS DONE IT.

They've really eased off.
Trentin checks on Kung behind him and stick on Pedersen's wheel.
They turn right and kick up Parliament Street.
Pedersen hits the front, followed by Trentin and then Kung.
The crowd roar and bash the barriers, knowing the winner will come from this trio.
Mads Pedersen allows himself a look over his shoulder. He'll see clear road behind him.
Matteo Trentin now swings over and goes to the back. He doesn't want a surprise attack being launched.
Kung, Pedersen and Trentin continue to work together, rolling along.
How are their nerves on these sweeping bends in the wet?
Got to keep pushing the tempo but got to be careful too.
Still Trentin, Kung and Pedersen out front. They should be the three medallists.
Sagan is giving it a good go behind.
