  2. Post update

What a great finish to the evening for Great Britain. It wasn't quite gold for Mark Stewart and Oliver Wood but it was still a great effort to get back into the top three during a pulsating madison race.

  3. Post update

    Men's madison

Oliver Wood's partner Mark Stewart pointed out that the men's madison was so tight that no pair was able to bag extra points for gaining a lap: "I'd watched a lot of races and the level is coming up. Teams are cancelling each other out. The level is so good nobody can physically take a lap."

  4. 'I'm happy with silver'

    Men's madison

Great Britain's Oliver Wood: "I said to Mark before I'd be pretty happy if we got a medal here. The stop-start of that suited me. I am happy to come away with a silver."

  5. Silver medal - Mark Stewart & Oliver Wood

    Men's madison

New Zealand went clear to take the last sprint, while a late surge by Great Britain takes six points with the Netherlands taking four.

    Is that enough for GB?

Ah, not quite... the Dutch take gold with 37 points, GB silver with 35 and New Zealand's late win there means they take the bronze with 34 points.

  7. Can GB snatch a medal?

    Men's madison - 20 laps to go

Great Britain need something here if they are to close the gap - and they take the five points, followed by New Zealand and Spain.

The GB pair of Mark Stewart and Oliver Wood are two points outside the medals but remember, there are double points on the last sprint too.
