What a great finish to the evening for Great Britain. It wasn't quite gold for Mark Stewart and Oliver Wood but it was still a great effort to get back into the top three during a pulsating madison race.

Oliver Wood's partner Mark Stewart pointed out that the men's madison was so tight that no pair was able to bag extra points for gaining a lap: "I'd watched a lot of races and the level is coming up. Teams are cancelling each other out. The level is so good nobody can physically take a lap."

Great Britain's Oliver Wood: "I said to Mark before I'd be pretty happy if we got a medal here. The stop-start of that suited me. I am happy to come away with a silver."
