15.5km to go
Pogacar and Vingegaard are together as they descend, and have opened up a gap of more than 10 seconds but, like yesterday, they don't seem too keen to try to stay clear.
16.4km to go
Wow. Tadej Pogacar surges away to take the eight bonus seconds, followed by Vingegaard and then, a little way back, Simon Yates. They take five and two seconds respectively.
What will their tactics be on the way down?
16.6km to go
Simon Yates takes over at the front, as Adam Yates drops away. It's just Simon, Vingegaard and Pog on their own as they race for the line.
17km to go
Adam Yates is about to take over from Majka, who has put in an immense shift... yes, here comes Yates, with Pog on his wheel. It's misty up here, which adds to the intrigue. 400m to the summit and those bonus points.
17.6km to go
Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar are right near the front. Will Pogacar attack for the bonus points? Will Adam Yates help him get them? We are about to find out?
18.2km to go
Julian Alaphilippe is one of the riders to be dropped by the relentless pace of Majka. Adam and Simon Yates are still up there though.
18.6km to go
The bonus points at the top of this climb could really shake up the General Classification - you would guess the big hitters will want them. Still 2km to go to the summit... Rafal Majka is doing real damage to the riders behind him and the lead group is getting smaller and smaller.
19km to go
Neilsen Powless sits up as Rafal Majka surges past him. The pace hasn't really dropped.
20km to go
Chris Harper drops off and Dylan van Baarle takes charge at the front of the chase for Jumbo-Vism, but not for long - Rafał Majka takes over for UAE. They are closing fast on poor Powles, who will hear them on his tail.
21km to go
It's still Harper at the front. UAE are bringing more men up there now, joining the Jumbo-Visma contingent.
We haven't seen Powless for a while but he is now just 32 seconds clear, with 3.7km to go to the top. It will feel like a lot longer than that because he has spent all day out front.
22km to go
Powless is less than 50 seconds ahead now. Australian rider Chris Harper, a team-mate of Simon Yates at Team Jayco–AlUla, takes over at the front of the bunch.
22.8km to go
Adam Yates and his twin brother Simon are together near the front of the peloton. Lots of Jumbo-Visma riders up there.
23km to go
Jumbo-Visma are setting a fierce pace and the gap to Powless has come down to one minute and 16 seconds. The big hitters are all at the front of the bunch but lots of riders are being dropped already and there is still 7km to go to the top.
24km to go
There are bonus seconds up for grabs at the top of Jaizkibel, which is where Powless is right now... and so are the main bunch.
Eight seconds on the General Classification go to the first rider over the top, then five and two seconds to whoever is second and third. Plenty to fight for then.
It is 8.1km to the top.
27km to go
For once UAE are not at the front of the peloton - the Jumbo-Visma team of defending champion Jonas Vingegaard have taken up the pace.
A reminder that Edvald Boasson Hagen has been dropped and is about to be hoovered up so there is just one man on his own at the front of the race, Neilson Powless... how long can he stay out there?
32km to go
Ok, as you were... UAE are on the front of the peloton as they go over the top of Gurutze. Jonas Vingegaard is safely back up there too.
Powless is one minute and 52 seconds clear, with just one categorised climb left - it's Jaizkibel, which is the one we've been looking forward to.
34km to go
Neilson Powless is, erm, powering up this climb and is about to collect another mountain point. Back down the road, the peloton's pace slowed after that Vingegaard puncture, and he is back in the main bunch, albeit on a different bike.
36km to go
It's all happening - there's a crash in the peloton, and defending champion Jonas Vingegaard has punctured - and at the front of the race Powless has gone out on his own.
37km to go
Another climb, the fourth of the day. The riders head up the category four Cote de Gurutze, with the gap to the escapees still hovering just under two minutes - Powless and Boasson Hagen haven't given up yet.
39km to go
France's Remi Cavagna (Soudal–Quick-Step), who was part of the breakaway for the early part of this stage, has now been dropped by the peloton. He won't be sending Mikkel Bjerg a Christmas card.
