Here we go... Lidl Trek take up the front of the pack, for Mads Pedersen.
3km to go
Team Jayco AlUla are up there, for Dylan Groenewegen. Jasper Philipsen has got Mathieu van der Poel next to him, which is an ominous sight for everyone else.
4km to go
This is relentless. Who is planning what from the sprinters' teams, while they try to shut all this down?
4.5km to go
Alberto Bettiol is the latest rider to try to get away. No joy.
5km to go
No gaps off the front at the moment, the sprinters teams are closing everything down.

Now Movistar send a man off the front... the attacks continue.

Ineos Grenadiers go this time, and they are joined by Victor Campenaerts... we are about to hear the bell to signal one more lap to go... there it is.

More attacks, and again Alpecin-Deceuninck respond... they weren't on their own either.
8.5km to go
Magnus Cort is going hard, and Simon Clarke is trying to stay with him but the peloton have marked their card. Jasper Philipsen is chasing a fifth-stage win of this year's Tour and a repeat of his win on the final day of 2022, and his Alpecin-Deceuninck team-mates are not taking any chances.
The peloton is back together, for now...
10km to go
Another escape attempt off the front of the peloton, and Magnus Cort is one of the men to get clear.
10.5km to go
Sorry, it's still a front three. Oliveira is still up there. The gap to the peloton is just three seconds though, so nothing at all.
11km to go
Oliveira drops away from the front three, which is now a front two. They have a lead of maybe four seconds, that's it.
13km to go
Stefan Kung needs a bike change - another mechanical problem. Not sure he will regain touch from here, because the peloton is absolutely charging along. The gap is down, down and down to six seconds and falling fast.
14km to go
Jai Hindley is back with the main bunch. The pace is ferocious now, with two laps of the Champs Elysees to go... the lead is 19 seconds, they don't want to catch the escapees too soon because that would invite chaos.
15km to go
Lidl-Trek are still at the front of the peloton, controlling the chase. The gap is 17 seconds.
16km to go
Oliveira, Clarke and Frison pedal grimly on at the front. They know they will be caught, it's just a question of when.
16.5km to go
Jai Hindley, seventh overall in the GC, has had a chain problem and needed a bike change. He's off the back of the main bunch, about 37 seconds behind.
17.5km to go
Giulio Ciccone is easy to spot on his polka dot bike and he is at the front of the peloton now, he is doing work for his Lidl-Trek team-mate Mads Pedersen.
18.5km to go
Ah, that Devenyns attack did not last long. He's back in the peloton, with the sprinters' teams running the show at the front of that bunch. The gap to the front three is 15 seconds.
