Seventh set: Lewis 2-1 Taylor (1-5)

Taylor did his best to put off Lewis on that last double. Egging on the crowd in the background with a big grin. Hmmmm...

Taylor gets to a finish first in the next leg and Lewis knocks in a 140 to pressurise the throw.

But a double 19 from Taylor steals the leg. Too easy.

Seventh set: Lewis 2-0 Taylor (1-5)

Eleven 180s in the game for Jamie Lewis, but he just can't do it on the doubles.

Phil Taylor has not been at his best, but he's managing to demolish Lewis here at the Ally Pally.

Lewis misses yet another double, this time it's double 9.

BUT WHAT'S THIS? Taylor misses double 18 and Lewis finds the green bit for double four.

He's actually throwing for the set...

Seventh set: Lewis 1-0 Taylor (1-5)

Jamie Lewis hits tops for the first time in the semi-final to take the first leg of the seventh set.

    I think it's a consolation though.

This is only heading one way.

A good start from Phil. Three darts in the red to start and that brings up the 601st maximum of the tournament.

He follows it up with a 140 as Lewis is off the boil in this leg. Has he given up?

GAME, SHOT AND THE SIXTH SET.

Taylor in total control as he fires in double 16 for 5-1 lead.

    Oh Jamie.

  5. Postpublished at 21:20 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Sixth set: Lewis 2-2 Taylor (1-4)

A hat-trick of 140s from Jamie Lewis and he's set up 81 to finish.

But that's a sloppy dart. He misses single 12 to hit 5 and Phil Taylor punishes him on double 16.

That's a harsh lesson from the greatest darts player of all time. And he's throwing for 5-1.

  6. Postpublished at 21:18 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Sixth set: Lewis 2-1 Taylor (1-4)

Taylor hasn't even broken a sweat. At the age of 57, and at his own retirement party, he's actually looking fresher than 26-year-old Jamie Lewis.

    What is going on?

The crowd have gone, Yaya and Kolo Toure are being hailed as Taylor messes up a 125 finish.

So it's Lewis with the chance to break again and he hits another double 16. Plum.

    The Welshman is still fighting.

  7. Postpublished at 21:16 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Sixth set: Lewis 1-1 Taylor (1-4)

Taylor was 4-1 up against Gary Anderson last night before the Scot rallied.

But he's closed this one down with another break of throw. That's an 11-dart leg from Phil.

  8. Postpublished at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Sixth set: Lewis 1-0 Taylor (1-4)

Taylor with the darts in this set but Lewis starts with a decent 140.

The averages are still lingering around the 97 mark, not the high-scoring classic we were hoping for, but more a tense affair.

The Power, though, defies my words and knocks in a 180 to leave 101.

He looks for the bull but it's low and Lewis LANDS DOUBLE 16.

    Is the comeback on??? #bbcdarts

  9. Taylor on his waypublished at 21:11 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Sixth set: Lewis 0-0 Taylor (1-4)

Is that game over? Can underdog Jamie Lewis come back from 4-1 against the greatest of all time?

It looks like Phil Taylor is heading for yet another World Championship final and possibly a 17th crown.

But I'm prepared to be wrong...

Fifth set: Lewis 1-3 Taylor (1-3)

That's a nice 180 from Jamie Lewis against the throw but he only follows it up with a 99.

Phil Taylor almost punishes him with a moment of magic, but just like Lewis earlier in the match, he misses the bull for a 167-finish.

But the Power doesn't care, he comes back to bury double eight.

That was almost a little dance as he gallops off the stage with a 4-1 lead.

Fifth set: Lewis 1-2 Taylor (1-3)

    HOORAY.

Jamie Lewis ignores my doom and gloom, goes to the other side of the board and finds a double in the 18 bed. That should calm him down slightly.

Taylor, though, with the throw for a three-set lead.

Fifth set: Lewis 0-2 Taylor (1-3)

Neither of them look very focused at the moment. Maybe they could have done without the break (I couldn't have).

Oh dear. Lewis misses yet another double 16, Phil is more assertive and his arrow finds the bed.

Lewis looks worried, and he should be. This is heading for 4-1.

Helles Mammut: Phil Taylor up 3-1 in sets but this could go either way, Jamie Lewis is making a name for himself no matter how this game ends, absolutely nerve-wrecking stuff.

  15. Postpublished at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Fifth set: Lewis 0-1 Taylor (1-3)

From 133, Lewis only leave 89 after a sloppy set of darts.

Phil can't take out his 146 but puts pressure on Lewis, who messes up his counting and doesn't leave himself a shot at a double.

That was a rusty leg from both, but Taylor gets out on double 16 against the throw.

Is Lewis tired? I thought Phil would struggle with his stamina...

  16. Postpublished at 20:58 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Fifth set: Lewis 0-0 Taylor (1-3)

I'm beginning to think it's not going to be the Welshman's night.

Lewis took the first set, but then missed doubles in the next three sets as Taylor snuck in for a 3-1 lead.

The Power could be 4-0 down, but he leads going into the fifth.

    WHAT DRAMA.

  17. Taylor wins fourth setpublished at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Fourth set: Lewis 2-3 Taylor (1-2)

Right, Lewis is back. This time attempting a 164 finish but he gets nowhere near.

Taylor misses the bull for a three-set lead before Lewis misses double 16 to take the set.

How many chances does he want?

Taylor, with the last dart in his hand, hits double eight.

    Lucky, very lucky.

  18. 10-dart leg from Taylorpublished at 20:50 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Fourth set: Lewis 2-2 Taylor (1-2)

    ON THE WIRE.

Jamie Lewis scrapes the wire on a 167 finish as he misses the bull by milimetres.

The Welshman can't catch a break.

Phil rolls in to finish on double eight to take the leg against the darts and we're all square in the fourth.

  19. Postpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Fourth set: Lewis 2-1 Taylor (1-2)

And after a good hold, Lewis breaks.

The Welshman misses double 16 to give Taylor a chance from 136, but the Power can't strike.

Lewis' second attempt at double 16 nestles into the green bed and he takes a 2-1 lead in the fourth against the throw.

    Is his wobble over?

Oh no, this is getting worse.

Lewis misses another two darts at a double.

BUT, a reprieve. A solid throw from Lewis who finally hits double four.

    1-1 in the fourth set.
