The 'Iceman' was dominant in the semi-final against Jonny Clayton, but could not replicate that form in the final.

Runner-up Gerwyn Price told Sky Sports: "I just couldn't find the trebles or doubles, sometimes it goes like that, I'm gutted.

"I feel like this one has got away.

"I felt like every time I threw a dart the board was moving, I was so far away with some."

Champion Michael van Gerwen told Sky Sports: "I've been working really hard lately.

"Everyone knows I have had problems recently [with my shoulder].

"I put pressure on myself and it motivated me today.

"I played some fantastic darts.

"I had to do something special today."
