The Dutchman leads but there is still a long way to go in this.

Remember, it's best of 15 legs so first to eight. MVG is only halfway there.

A rare comfortable leg for Michael van Gerwen.

With Luke Littler lagging behind, MVG knows he has multiple darts at a double.

He only needs one, though. Into the bed of double 12 for a 4-3 lead at the mid-game interval.

Boos for Luke Littler initially but they quieten down as he approaches the stage.

The crowd are clearly behind MVG, though. Not that Littler will be too bothered.

I've been watching Darts since watching Steve Beaton win the 96 BDO World Final and I don't think I've been as excited or impressed by a player than Luke Littler. Every match feels like an event.

    Van Gerwen 7-4 Van Veen

Victory for MVG but he'll know he needs to finish far better if he is to beat Luke Littler.

He was at just 28% on his doubles, making seven of 25.

That said, the Dutchman was more clinical in the last couple of legs and averaged 96.88 so he will still take some beating.
