Britain's Kadeena Cox was due to compete with Sarah Storey and Crystal Lane in the women's road race, but she had to pull out through injury.
The cyclist/athlete, who comes away from Rio with four medals, wrote on Instagram:
"Would have been an absolute miracle for me to walk away from this games in one piece. So I'll take a minor hamstring tear I gained running the relay. I've put my body under so much stress but it has been totally worth it.
"I pray I've empowered people with ms, chronic conditions or general set backs to keep pushing through, doing what you love and achieving your dreams. Proving that someone from my background can achieve great things and showing all the youngsters in my community we can achieve and we were built for greatness!!! This has been an amazing experience I won't forget. The support has been amazing and I can't thank you all enough."
