Teenager Ellie Robinson was supposed to be using the Rio Games as an experience-builder ahead of Tokyo 2022, but she made a mockery of that by winning gold in the S6 50m butterfly last week.

"It still hasn’t sunk in yet," the 15-year-old admitted to BBC Radio 5 live.

"It’ll probably hit me when I get back and see people’s faces – I can’t wait to see them.

"It’s been great to see the reaction I’ve got from everyone, I’m so happy."

What a start to the day for GB archers who are guaranteed a medal and several more could follow!

Top-seed Jessica Stretton and team-mate Vicky Jenkins both defeated their quarter-final opponents and will meet each other for a place in the gold medal shoot-off in the next 20 minutes. The loser will go into the bronze medal match-up.

Jo Frith just defeated Lia Corvell to reach the semi-finals in the other side of the draw.

So from two medals so far in the Games there could be another three in the next hour or so - and that's before the mixed-team event begins later.

I think that’s the best I’ve seen Jade push this week, when we looked back at her other events this week she wasn’t lifting her arms up high, she was looking a little sluggish. She fought really well here, and at least she’s in contention for a fastest loser. As a race, that was okay.
