They put a lovely move together too, with Angel Di Maria swapping passes with Marcelo but instead of pulling the trigger he tries to feed one across for Cristiano Ronaldo and it's snuffed out.

Isco drags a shot wide as real really dial up the tension now. He had two men over to his left - should he have gone one more?

Almost! Terrific leap from Cristiano Ronaldo to meet Sergio Ramos' cross, but despite his athleticism the number seven can't quite get the header under control and it skims wide of the far post.

This is opening up. Stand by for a cracking last 25 minutes.

That is top class foraging from Adrian Lopez, the Atleti man holding off three men to chase down a lost cause and turn it into a crossing chance. Atletico then keep the ball for an extended spell, with Juanfran almost picking out David Villa in the middle.

Real then counter, with Atletico flooding men forward for the first real time. Cristiano Ronaldo can't get on the end of a cross but the men in white encouraged by that...

A double change for Real Madrid.

Marcelo replaces Fabio Coentrao at left-back and Isco is on for Sami Khedira in midfield. That's no real graft in there now for Real. All silk, no steel.

It's been all Real for a few minutes but Atletico then go close! A set-piece (naturally) is the root of it, with Adrian Lopez seizing his chance to fire in a low shot which is deflected narrowly wide.

Still over half an hour to go. But you feel the next goal is everything...

From two following corners Ronaldo then squeezes efforts wide. There he is! Is that a shift in momentum?

It's cynical again from Atletico, as Miranda goes into the book for hauling down Angel Di Maria. Lovely feet from Di Maria though, he was opening up the goal for a strike there.

What can Cristiano Ronaldo do from here? 30 yards out...

The Atletico midfield trio of Koke, Gabi and Raul Garcia are bossing this now. Sami Khedira may be a bit rusty, he can't get near them at the moment. David Villa then slides in to stop Gareth Bale in his tracks.
