"That officially is the worst miss of the World Cup so far. It's worse than Torres because there was no-one in front of him. He's two yards out, there's no goalkeeper and all you have to do is put it between the two white sticks.

"He's coming off and how must he be feeling right now?"

    Torres misses

So, so close for Greece as Vasilis Torosidis volleys a ball into the area and Theofanis Gekas swoops in to head goalwards. It looks a certain goal but it is agony for Gekas as he watches it bounce off the underside of the crossbar before Colombia clear off the line.

"You'd be shocked if there was a way back for Greece now. Earlier I couldn't understand why they were lumping the corners in high but this was whipped and low and it was classic centre-forward play from Gutierrez."

    Match of the Day commentator

"It wasn't a great ball in from Rodriguez, but it's great movement across the near post from Aguilar, and it's a simple finish for Gutierrez."

Brilliantly instinctive stuff from Colombia as they snatch a second and you would have to say put this game beyond Greece. Abel Aguilar gets a deft touch to a James Rodriguez ball into the box to flick it on for Teofilo Gutierrez, who sticks out a boot to stab home from close range.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 14 June 2014

Dimitris Salpingidis soon follows Sokratis Papastathopoulos in earning himself a yellow card for a foul. Greece getting a bit niggly now with their challenges.

Tom, London: Awful dive from Samaras who gets away with it because he effectively admitted to it immediately. Offence still committed - you don't get away with a poor foul for putting your hands up and saying sorry so why a dive?

"Greece have started the second half quite well but they haven't got the early goal and they need to do something quickly so they're going to make a change.

"If you start the group stages with a defeat it's very hard. You're not only chasing the game, you're chasing every game from here on in."

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 14 June 2014

Sokratis Papastathopoulos goes into the referee's book as he swipes away Victor Ibarbo's feet. It is a good position for the Colombia free-kick, which is roughly 25 yards from goal and James Rodriguez takes it but hits the wall.

"I'd like to see the Fulham striker Konstantinos Mitroglou come on. Theofanis Gekas looks isolated up front, and Greece need a goal. They have got to be positive."

James Rodriguez has the first chance of the second half as he shoots goalwards from just inside the area but his shot is too close to Greece keeper Orestis Karnezis, who makes the save.

  12. Postpublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 14 June 2014

A moment of excitement for the Greece fans as Georgios Samaras tumbles inside the area after getting past Juan Zuniga. The referee says no penalty and, to Samaras's credit, he was waggling his finger immediately to say he had not been fouled.

It's easy to forget amid the World Cup frenzy, but domestic football does not simply stop while everyone's eyes are on Brazil. Certainly not at West Brom, anyway.

Slightly out of left-field this one, but the Premier League Baggies have appointed Everton's academy manager Alan Irvine as their new head coach on a 12-month rolling contract.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 14 June 2014

    Pat Nevin
    BBC Radio 5 live

"Colombia are good value for their lead but that's to take nothing away from the Greeks. They've worked hard and been positive but it's that lack of creativity. I'm looking forward to the second half because it's a far better game than I expected it to be.

"The Greeks have got a bit of belief in themselves but they just don't score goals. To score two is probably too much to ask so maybe they'd settle for just one.

"The referee isn't being conned and he's shouted at the players a few times for going down. I wish there were more referees capable of doing that."
