"Thibaut Courtois looks an outstanding goalkeeper. He has only had four comfortable saves to make today so far but he is tall, has presence and now he has got that experience as well. It wouldn't surprise me if he becomes Chelsea's number one next season."

Russia win a corner from the left and Dmitry Kombarov tries an out-swinger, but Thibaut Courtois, a La Liga winner with Atletico Madrid in 2013-14, comes out to dominate his area and punch the ball clear.
Eyobel Gomini:, external Is that the Everton Romelu Lukaku? He seems lazy and static!
Reece Moore:, external Toby Alderweireld is a definite weak link for Belgium, lucky to not give away a penalty. Lukaku needs the ball, poor service.
Ross Bentley:, external Still unconvinced by Belgium. Good individuals, lack of cohesion as a team.
Well, that's one way to stop him.
Denis Glushakov clatters into dangerman Dries Mertens to leave the right-winger crumpled in a heap on the floor. The Russian is lucky to avoid a booking. Mertens dusts himself down and is OK to carry on. Belgium are hugely relieved that he managed to survive that one.
Naughty from the Russian.
That man Dries Mertens is back in the thick of the action. He is tormenting left-back Dmitry Kombarov and cuts outside his man, before shooting at goal from a tight angle. Igor Akinfeev in the Russia goal does not have the confidence to catch the shot which is straight at him, but parries the ball to safety.
Russia may have to double up on Mertens with Maksim Kanunikov coming back to help out Kombarov or they could soon be falling behind.

"Romelu Lukaku looks lost at times, I am not sure if he is the right man to lead the Belgium attack. He might be their only weakness, it just looks like he struggles to get into games at times. The ball goes up to him, it bounces back off him, and the attacks break down.
"He's not brilliant with his back to goal, he wants to turn, run down the sides of people and get into the box.
"Eden Hazard's attitude doesn't quite look like it does when he plays for Chelsea, he's not taking players on. It's been left to Dries Mertens to run at people and get down the wing."
Jamie Millar:, external Dries Mertens looks a fine player for Belgium. He's skinning that poor Russian left back every time he runs at him!
We have mentioned that Thomas Vermaelen picked up a knock in the warm-up. Well, it's bad news for the Arsenal man as he limps off and is replaced by Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen, who moves into the left side of the defence.
We then have a shout for a penalty for Russia as Maksim Kanunnikov goes down in the penalty area after a challenge from Toby Alderweireld, but German referee Felix Brych waves away the protests.

"Maksim Kanunnikov is really causing problems down that left hand side for Russia. That was a great effort with his right foot.
"I'm so disappointed with Romelu Lukaku up front for Belgium. Thomas Vermalen's had a wretched season and he must have picked up a hamstring.
"He's had so many disappointments, he's lost his place, missing on the cup final and it can only get better for him. It remains to be seen if that will be at Arsenal but it's all about playing."
We haven't seen much of Russia as an attacking threat but they force Thibaut Courtois into action. Left-winger Maksim Kanunnikov cuts in from the flank and it is a routine save from the Belgium goalkeeper, but we have seen worst shots than that go in so worth an effort.
Usama Zafar:, external Alan Dzagoev on the bench is criminal stuff from the Russia manager, especially when your team lacks creativity.
Tamim Mezher:, external What are Fabio Capello's tactics for Russia, bore Belgium into defeat?
Anyone who watched England four years ago may suggest Capello has some previous experience in that, Tamim. Anyone remember anything from England 0-0 Algeria in South Africa? Nope, me neither.
There is a huge incentive to finish top of Group H as the group winners are likely to avoid having to play Germany in the last 16.
Belgium are on top in the Maracana, but have not finished off their chances to take the lead, which would be a deserved one.

"Romelu Lukaku is so static. He's got to be on the move when he receives the ball. It's just if he's got the quality, technique and hunger. If your centre-forward is moving quickly into space then you feed him the ball but he doesn't show it with his body language.
"They've got lots of good individuals but can Belgium start to play as a team?"
Danny Mills
BBC Radio 5 live
"Belgium are clearly on top at the moment. They are just starting to take serious control of the game, this is the time when they have to score, because at 0-0 you can always be caught on the counter attack.
"All the talk has been about Eden Hazard in the build-up to this tournament, but Dries Mertens is looking very dangerous when Belgium get the ball wide.
"All Belgium's three chances have come down the right hand side and he is the main man. We are yet to see Eden Hazard burst into life."
Dries Mertens was the match-winner against Algeria, and he looks Belgium's best outlet for a first goal at the Maracana.
He is allowed to run at a back-tracking Russian defence and unleashes a low, powerful effort from just outside the box. Russia will have to defend better than that and close down their men if they are to stay in the competition.
Goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, at fault for the goal Russia conceded against South Korea, is very relieved to see the ball go wide. Mertens has another chance a minute later, which also narrowly misses the target. Capello's men are hanging on at the minute.
Charlie Lim:, external Russia has to wake up and play properly BEFORE conceding a goal today; Belgium will be nowhere near as easy to score against as South Korea.

"Belgium have started a lot better than they did against Algeria. They look more positive, their passing is slicker, the tempo is higher, and that bodes well. The Russians will sit back and play on the counter, but they don't look as organised as Algeria were and are not working quite as hard.
"The brightest player has been Dries Mertens. He is dynamic, gets the ball and runs at people, he makes things happen. And he also takes a bit of the pressure off Eden Hazard on the opposite flank."

But Belgium quickly create an opportunity at the other end. Dries Mertens fires a low cross into the front post, aiming for Romelu Lukaku but the Chelsea man can not get there in time. We could well be having quite a few goals today. A lively start.

"In order for Russia to play Alexander Kokorin has got to keep hold of it. Ball retention is an issue with him. He's always looking to the last shoulder of the defender but you have to keep the ball as well.
"This is already better than I've seen from Russia in the whole tournament. Good interchange play."
