Arsenal skipper Kelly Smith is beaming from ear to ear as she leads her team out of the Stadium MK tunnel, while Everton counterpart Michelle Hinnigan looks a little more nervous. Playing in an FA Cup final is the dream of every young footballer. Playing in front of thousands of fans at the stadium of your hometown club, who you have supported from childhood, is another fairytale.

Everton's Milton Keynes-born defender Billie Murphy is living both of those dreams today - if she appears from the Toffees bench.

"When we found out it was going to be at the stadium I was really excited," she tells Everton's official website., external "I'm an MK Dons fan and my family have season tickets so it means a lot to play there.

  11. Male/female double for the Gunners?published at 16:22 British Summer Time 1 June 2014

With Arsenal's male counterparts winning a thrilling FA Cup final against Hull last month, Shelley Kerr's side could complete an unusual - but not unique - double today. Arsenal have previously completed a male/female FA Cup clean sweep in 1993 and 1998. Will 2014 be the year they do the 'treble double'?

As if that isn't bad enough for Arsenal, their preparation has taken a further hit by some shock news - Gunners boss Shelley Kerr announcing she is quitting.

Former Scotland captain Kerr led Arsenal to both FA Cup and Continental Cup victories last season, which was her first in charge, but is leaving after their poor start to the new season. However, she remains in charge to lead the team out in today's showpiece.

"We've just got to do it for Shelley, no-one wanted her to step down. It's not a good situation for us," says Gunners striker Kelly Smith.

Both Arsenal and Everton have become accustomed to challenging for league and cup honours, but the two sides go into the final in very unfamiliar positions.

A turbulent start to the Women's Super League season sees the misfiring Gunners, who were crowned English champions for nine successive seasons before losing the title to Liverpool last year, marooned at the bottom of the table. They have not won any of their first four matches, picking up just one point with an opening-day draw against Notts County.

The Toffees have suffered a sticky start too, failing to taste victory themselves as two draws from their four games put them one point - and one place - better off than Arsenal in the table.

Hello! And welcome to live coverage of today's FA Women's Cup final between Arsenal and Everton. These two clubs have been the powerhouses of English women's football for much of the past decade, with either one of the teams - or both - having reached the showpiece in all but one of the past 11 years.

Today, defending champions Arsenal are aiming to lift that shiny piece of silver for a 13th time, while Everton could have their name etched on to the trophy for a third time.

But today's match has a rather different backdrop to previous years...

  17. 13 unlucky for some?published at 15:47 British Summer Time 1 June 2014

The number 13 is considered as unlucky for some. Why? No-one really knows.

Some reckon it is of biblical origin, with that unscrupulous character Judas Iscariot being the 13th man to turn up at the Last Supper before betraying Jesus. Others reckon it is because condemned criminals had to climb 13 steps to the gallows.

Whatever the reason, Arsenal are hell bent on making a mockery of this superstition. Because today, 13 could be their lucky number.
