"Chile red was the dominant colour in the stands at all three of their group games, but La Roja are in a minority today as Estadio Mineirao is transformed into a bowl of yellow.

"Both sides are out on the pitch warming up, Brazil receiving a typically raucous ovation and Chile resounding jeers. Luiz Felipe Scolari has named David Luiz at centre-back despite concerns over a back problem, while Fernandinho replaces Paulinho in midfield. That decision seems to have gone down well with the public.

"Gary Medel starts for Chile following a muscle injury - coach Jorge Sampaoli said in his pre-match news conference that if this match had been on Friday, the Cardiff player would not have been included."

    Neymar

There is no doubt who the Brazilian sweetheart is.

Boy-wonder Neymar has put a disappointing campaign with Barcelona behind him to almost single-handedly fire Brazil into the second round.

His four goals in three matches at this tournament have taken his tally to 35 goals in 52 caps.

Aged just 22 you get the feeling there is a lot more to come from the World Cup's poster boy.

    Match of the Day analyst

"This is where it all begins. I'm tingling with anticipation because what we're going to see is goals, drama, euphoria, heartache over the next two weeks. Let battle commence.

"I think Brazil have got to improve, and move the ball quicker. I don't know why they are still playing Hulk down that right, but their success all comes down to the star - Neymar."

Brazil's players are not only heroes, they are also trend setters.

Tattoo artists say requests for body art sported by Dani Alves, Marcelo, Neymar and their tattooed team-mates has increased during the World Cup.

  16. No fear for Chilepublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 28 June 2014

A TV advertising campaign in Chile featured the miners trapped underground for 69 days in 2010, with the slogan 'Nothing is impossible for a Chilean'.

"The Group of Death doesn't scare us. We don't care about death - we've already beaten it," said one of the miners, Mario Sepulveda.

Well, having seen off Spain, Chile aren't about to be frightened by Brazil. Make no mistake, they fancy this.

The hosts are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to win a record sixth World Cup.

Luiz Felipe Scolari's squad have taken to covering their mouths on the pitch to stop intrusive Brazilian television stations from gaining an unwelcome insight into their thoughts and strategy.

The move is in response to some media outlets using lip-reading experts, a gimmick that was proving popular with viewers.

I wonder how long till that catches on in the British press?
