    Lawro's predicitions

What are Lawro's thoughts on how tonight's game might pan out? No need to ponder that question too long as we have the big man's thoughts right here:

"Belgium manager Marc Wilmots called Argentina 'ordinary' after his side were beaten in their quarter-final, and I think he was right. However, the Dutch still have the brilliance of Lionel Messi to contend with and maybe the Netherlands' schedule is catching up with them, because they looked very leggy against Costa Rica.

"I see Argentina getting through. Playing in a World Cup final at the Maracana is a massive incentive for them, and they will have huge support again to help them in Sao Paulo."

    Lawro says: Netherlands 1-2 Argentina.

  5. Who will win?published at 16:50 British Summer Time 9 July 2014

    Kevin Kilbane
    BBC Radio 5 live

"I've not particularly been impressed by Argentina but you have to be impressed with Lionel Messi. He is key to Argentina's success and they have to keep him right and keep him fit.

"If he does stay fit, and Argentina get him on the ball again and get him in key areas, he will be the spark for them again.

"There was pressure on Messi coming into his tournament and he has got better and better, full credit to him, but the players around him are not excelling. Argentina have been heavily reliant on that one man to be the creative spark."

"One of the best things about being on the Copacabana during this World Cup is the motley collection of camper vans and other weird and wonderful vehicles parked along the beach that have been driven here by fans from other South American countries.

"The tiny caravan (in the bottom photo) has been parked near the BBC base since the start of the tournament so I decided to find out who owns it, and got speaking to (r-l in top photo) Rodrigo, Fernando and Maiten who drove over 1,200 miles to get here from Villa Canas near Santa Fe in Argentina, and have now been here for close to a month.

"They have another van too, thankfully, so more room to sleep - plus a guitar and lots of beer. They've only seen one Argentina game so far - the win over Bosnia-Hercegovina in La Seleccion's opening match of the tournament here in Rio, but they hope to get into the final at the Maracana if their team get past the Netherlands today. Even if they don't, they have had a wonderful World Cup."

Argentina may be without a much improved Angel Di Maria for this game, but they still have their talisman - Lionel Messi.

The same, though, may not be the case for the Netherlands with captain Robin van Persie a doubt. He sat out training with "stomach problems".

"It was best for him not to train," says Dutch boss Louis van Gaal. "I don't know [if he will be fit to face Argentina]. I will have to take that decision."
