Celtic press once again and the youngster Callum McGregor is about to pull the trigger in the box before Reykjavik substitute Zato Arouna takes it off his toes.
Twenty five minutes remaining for Celtic to break the deadlock in Reykjavik and take a lead back to Murrayfield - as Celtic Park is being used for the Commonwealth Games - for the second leg next Tuesday.
Dale, Kettering: "Fitting Eyjafjallajökull into a football pun. Another thing harder than beating Brazil."
BBC Sportsound pundit Billy Dodds
"That was a missile. There was a bit of movement at the end and it's hit the bar. Celtic haven't been at their best but that's two great efforts on goal."
Celtic are denied by the woodwork for a second time. Leigh Griffiths, inside the penalty area on the right, rifles a vicious shot that speeds beyond the leaping Magnusson but comes back off the crossbar, which is still shaking...
Much of Celtic's attacking play, and threat, is coming from the boot of Kris Commons. He's hit the bar with a rasping drive and had at least another two decent chances to break the deadlock.
Just shy of the hour-mark, it remains goalless in Reykjavik. Will Ronny Deila shuffle his Celtic pack soon?
Kris Commons's toes will be "loupin". Once again he finds himself Celtic's main attacking threat, collecting Anthony Stokes's low centre but sending his effort straight into the arms of a relieved Magnusson.
What a chance! A long ball aimed at Leigh Griffiths comes off the back of a KR Reykjavik defender and Kris Commons angles his body to send it low into the bottom corner... Alas, he leans back and sends an effort over the bar.
Celtic team-mate Virgil van Dijk looks heaven-ward in frustration.
John McEnerney: "The Bhoys need to box clever in this half & step it up a gear! These lads will be knackered in the last 20& The Tic will pounce."
Celtic are building the pressure as McGregor threatens before Lustig's header is partially cleared and Griffiths snatches at an effort that sails high over the bar. The visitors are trying to inject more pace and urgency into their forays forward.
Celtic fashion their first chance of the second half as Griffiths finds Commons but the former Derby County midfielder's effort whistles narrowly over the bar.
KR Reykjavik force an early corner after some sluggish Celtic defending. Ronny Deila, sporting a snazzy jacket that wouldn't look out of place in the dance tent at T in the Park, looks on...
Here we go in the second half. "All we are saying: is give us a gooooooooooooal..."
Joe, Bishopbriggs: "We have nobody willing to take players on, no pace! One name I'd like to mention: Samaras!"
Martin, Edinburgh: "Noticed Delia managed to blame all other Scottish teams for Celtic having to qualify- if Celtic individually had the competency to win the CL they wouldn't have to go through qualification."
Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths and co have struggled to break down some stiff KR Reykjavik resistance?
Some rustiness after the short summer break?
Stephen Keegan: "Efe-jallajökull close to blowing his top #bbcfootball #bbcsportscot"
Dr Efe-jallajökull & Mr Hyde?
Former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner
"Celtic sort of fell out of it and allowed KR to come into it. They've got to keep trying and hopefully they will get that opportunity and finish it."
Cliftonville 0-0 Debrecen
A solid if unspectacular opening 45 minutes to Ronny Deila's Celtic tenure as his charges labour to break the deadlock in Iceland. Kris Commons's howitzer that shook the crossbar has been the closest the sides have come to a goal.
Celtic, probing for an opening, trade passes on the edge of the area like a basketball player waiting to go for a three-pointer. Eventually a dink behind the KR Reykjavik sets the galloping Mikael Lustig free but his cutback is swatted away.
