  2. Celtic updatepublished at 00:38 British Summer Time 2 September 2014

    BBC Sport's Alasdair Lamont

"Celtic's hopes of signing John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City look to have been scuppered. They had hoped to add the Swede as well as Stefan Scepovic but the final details could not be processed before the Scottish FA's midnight deadline.

"Although there is a possibility the SFA can appeal to Fifa over the circumstances, for the moment it looks like the Serbian Scepovic will prove to be Celtic's only deadline day acquisition."

While we wait for the two big ones - here are some more big ones you may have missed:

Hull City have signed Uruguay striker Abel Hernandez from Palermo for a club-record fee, thought to be £10m

Crystal Palace have broken their transfer record by spending £7m to make Wigan midfielder James McArthur one of three deadline-day signings.

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has joined Spanish side Real Madrid on a season-long loan.

Manchester City's Micah Richards has ended his 12-year stay at the club by joining Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal.

Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby has signed for Hamburg on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move.

Where did Celtic get to in the end then?

They have completed the £2.3m signing of Serbia striker Stefan Scepovic from Sporting Gijon.

The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year contract just 24 hours after withdrawing from an agreement with the Scottish champions.

But a switch to Getafe collapsed, allowing Celtic to land the forward who scored 22 goals in the Spanish second tier last season.

Celtic are also working on a deal to sign Manchester City's John Guidetti.

If your deal hasn't gone through yet - don't panic!

Clubs sometimes conclude deals at the last minute and it is not always easy for them to get everything completed and sent over by 11pm. The so called 'deal sheet' allows a club to confirm that a deal has been reached in order to allow for additional time to submit the remaining documentation.

The sheet cannot be used prior to 21:00 BST and needs to arrive fully completed before the transfer window closes. Once the sheet arrives, clubs have got until 1am to submit the full paperwork.

So don't go to bed yet...

If this deal does not go ahead, what is their strategy? Do they acknowledge that the move is off? Or just keep quiet and pretend it never happened...?
