"We had so many chances to kill it off, but it was just one of those nights where it didn't quite go in for us.

Roma defender Ashley Cole: "It was a good performance after going 1-0 down so early in the game. We had belief that we could get a result. Maybe we should have won? I don't know.

"We defended well. It's still early, we came here to win and are a bit disappointed but it's a good point for us."

Dan, North London: Unbelievable performance from Matic. Lost count of how often he won possession and launched Chelsea forward, plus has the eye for a through ball. Not many like him around at the moment.

Sporting goalkeeper Rui Patricio made six saves tonight, he kept his side in it for long periods. But Chelsea should have been home and hosed.

Kuntal Majumdar:, external Mourinho walking all the way and congratulating Patricio is all about respect. That's why I love football.

Really good interplay on the edge of the box to tee it up for Stevan Jovetic, he gets his foot through the ball but he can't control it and fires over the top. That is that. It is what it is.

All over and Barcelona have been beaten for the first time this season, and it is a deserved victory for Paris St-Germain.

The French side could have had more goals but for some poor finishing, while at the other end of the pitch, David Luiz was in inspired form to hold back the late barrage of Barcelona attacks.
