Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "We had some bad luck, the first goal was offside but we had a lack of concentration and thought the game was won.

"Overall we were poor defensively from the first to the last minute. At 3-2 you have to secure yourself and we were not cautious enough. It was very poor defending.

"Am I angry or disappointed? Both."

Football league full-times

In the 20:00 GMT kick-offs in the Championship, two second-half goals from Simon Cox saw Reading run out 3-0 winners at home to Rotherham, who have conceded six goals in their last two games. It was the same scoreline at the Macron Stadium, where Bolton showed their progress under manager Neil Lennon with a 3-0 win at home to Russell Slade's Cardiff.

In League One, Swindon were the winners against Preston, who continue to falter at the top of the table. Second-placed North End have lost more ground on Bristol City after back-to-back defeats.

Football league full-times

A 2-1 win for Gary Rowett in his first home game in charge of Birmingham City will do the Championship strugglers a world of good. It was a win against the unlikeliest opponents, as Watford move off the top of the table and lose for the first time under Slavisa Jokanovic.

At the other end Bournemouth move to the top of the Championship table as they win 2-0 at Sheffield Wednesday - it is the first time the Cherries have won six in a row in the second tier in their history.

Ipswich take the spoils at Portman Road in the game that saw Mick McCarthy come up against his former club. Wolves gave the ball away cheaply for both of the home side's goals, which were both clinically put away by Daryl Murphy.

Derby got back on track with a 3-2 win against Huddersfield, while Middlesbrough crushed Norwich 4-0. Neil Redfearn was denied a first win as the permanent boss of Leeds thanks to a late Charlton equaliser, and Millwall rescued themselves after falling 2-0 behind to Blackburn with 10 men. It finished 2-2.

Brighton got their first win in 12 games as they beat Wigan 1-0 thanks to Gary Gardner's goal in the first minute. Relief for Sami Hyypia.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana speaking on ITV: "We said at half time if the game stayed at 1-0, we would have every chance of getting back in to it.

"We showed we have got the fight with that performance and we know we have got to win the last two games to go through, but we're confident we can do that."

The 4,000 or so fans who have made the trip to Madrid are still in good voice. When the team sheet came out an hour before kick-off they must have feared the worst, but Liverpool put in a good showing.

However, they never really looked like scoring all night. They didn't hurt Madrid in the slightest.

Swiss side Basel move ahead of Liverpool in Group B after a comfortable 4-0 win over Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets Razgrad at St Jakob Park. Borussia Dortmund secured their passage to the last-16 with a routine 4-1 home win over Galatasaray.

Spanish champions Atletico Madrid climbed to the top of Group A following their 2-0 win over Malmo thanks to goals from Koke and Raul Garcia. Juventus earned a valuable 3-2 win over Olympiakos in Turin, although they remain behind the Greek side in third place on goal difference.

In Group C Benfica boosted their hopes of progressing to the knockout phase with a 1-0 win over Monaco with Bayer Leverkusen increasing their advantage at the top of the pool following a 2-1 away win over second-placed Zenit St Petersburg.

On a night of remarkable turnarounds, 10-man Millwall have also equalised at home to Blackburn to the of delight of the Den.

There is a fourth for Middlesbrough at home to hapless Norwich through Yanic Wildschut, and Bolton have a third against Cardiff.

There is a goal in tonight's only game in League One. Andy Williams gives Swindon the lead at home to Preston, with just six minutes remaining.

But as it stands, Bournemouth are heading to the top of the Championship table. Can Premier League supporters start to dream of that August bank holiday away-day on the South Coast?

Middlesbrough are coasting now to a comprehensive win against Norwich. Grant Leadbitter gets his second and the home side's third goal of the night to make it 3-0.

It is not so comfortable for Blackburn, who have been pegged back to 2-1 by 10-man Millwall.

Reading have moved three clear at home to Rotherham, Simon Cox getting two goals in the second half.

It looks more difficult for Huddersfield now, as Derby's Simon Dawkins' shot from outside the area creeps in off the post. 3-1 to the home side.

But the night could belong to Bournemouth. The Cherries are heading for a fantastic away win at Sheffield Wednesday, Ryan Fraser's goal giving them a two-goal advantage against a Wednesday side who earlier had Royston Drenthe dismissed.

Sam in Crowthorne: In my opinion everyone is over-hyping Alexis Sanchez's start to English football. Yes he has played well against Anderlecht and Burnley, but I'm yet to see a world class performance against world class opposition, like Dortmund or Chelsea where he failed. Why he is a class below Aguero and Hazard.

Cristiano Ronaldo back out on his old stomping ground, the right wing, and he's still useful there too. He beats two men for pace, stands up the cross which Isco could hit. Again, he takes an extra touch though and the chance is gone.

It is getting interesting at Leeds as Neil Redfearn searches for his first win as the team's permanent boss. Two goals from Alex Mowatt either side of a Charlton equaliser from Johann Berg Gudmundsson give the home side a 2-1 lead.

Wolves equalised at Ipswich through James Henry's cross that missed everyone, fizzed off the sodden November turf and crept into the corner. But Ipswich have restored their lead thanks to a deft chip from Daryl Murphy, who doubles his tally. 2-1 to Mick McCarthy's side.

Andy Wilkinson has made Millwall's night against Blackburn significantly more difficult, as he receives his fifth career red card for a ferocious tackle that had the referee going straight to his back pocket. There was also a nasty fracas between the two dugouts following the challenge. Just two minutes later, Rudy Gestede doubles the away team's lead. 2-0 to Rovers.

It does not take Bournemouth long to take advantage of Royston Drenthe's red card for Sheffield Wednesday. The Cherries are one up within two minutes of the red card, Andrew Surman keeping his cool. Could Bournemouth be heading for an unprecedented sixth straight league win as a second-tier club? They are going top of the table at present.

Elsewhere in Europe....

That Ludogorets Razgrad comeback against Basel that Liverpool fans were hoping for? Well, it's going to take something truly special now after Shkelzen Gashi and Marek Suchy make it it 4-0 to the Swiss side at St Jakob Park.

Borussia Dortmund look to be cruising into the last 16 of the competition after taking a 2-0 lead against Galatasaray. The Turkish club failed to clear a corner and Sebastian Kehl headed the ball into the box for Greek centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos to hook the ball home.

Juventus fell behind to Olympiakos after Delvin N'Dinga scored for the Greeks. But the Italian champions stepped it up and now lead 3-2 after Fernando Llorente's header hit the bar and bounced in off Olympiakos goalkeeper Roberto before Paul Pogba fired home minutes later.

There have been goals aplenty in the first half in the Championship, with the pick of the games at Pride Park where in-form Huddersfield are taking on Derby, who are looking to get back on track after losing their last two. Johnny Russell has given Derby the lead for the second time in the game on the stroke of half-time, but it could still go either way at 2-1 to the home side.

Andrew Shinnie has missed a sitter for a much-improved Birmingham against table-toppers Watford. The Blues took the lead in Gary Rowett's first home match in charge, before Fernando Forestieri's equaliser to make it 1-1, but Shinnie had a gilt-edged chance with a header from inside the box to restore Blues' lead.

Middlesbrough are in control at 2-0 up at home to Norwich, Ipswich have a 1-0 lead at home to Wolves and Brighton, without a win in 11, lead 1-0 at home to Wigan.

There are positive starts for the basement boys in the Championship, as Birmingham City and Brighton both take the lead within the opening two minutes.

Clayton Donaldson put Birmingham in front, but the joy was short-lived for Gary Rowett on his first home game as Blues boss, as top-of-the-table Watford equalise within five minutes through Fernando Forestieri.

Brighton are without a win in 11 games in the league, but Gary Gardner's early strike has given them the lead at home to Wigan.

Patrick Bamford has given Middlesbrough the lead against Norwich in the evening's top of the table clash, while Jordon Ibe has put Derby one up against in-form Huddersfield. Steve McClaren's men are looking to get back on track after losing their last two.

Online abuse 'a disgrace'

Yaya Toure has hit back at those who subjected him to online abuse on social media, calling it "a disgrace".

The Manchester City midfielder told BBC Sport that Fifa should be doing more to tackle the problem.

Police are investigating claims Toure was racially abused on Twitter a few hours after re-activating his account following a five-month absence.

"We need to do something to try to tell people those kinds of behaviour have to stop," Toure said.

"I've been trying to say to Fifa that they are on the wrong way and what they are doing is not good."

The 44-year-old won 53 England caps and is currently goalkeeper and manager of Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters FC. As well as his van you could get hold of 150 signed shirts, shorts and match balls.

Bids for his possessions, which also include exercise and DJ equipment, vinyl records, books and toys, are being accepted from 6 to 18 November.

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa says team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo is one of football's all-time greats as he chases Raul's Champions League goals record.

"He has more goals than games for Real Madrid. Just think about that! It is amazing."

Arbeloa faces his old side tonight and says the Reds are still "a really good team" despite "having some problems" since the departure of Luis Suarez in the summer.

The Spain international says the arrival of Mario Balotelli and injury to Daniel Sturridge have forced Liverpool to change their style, but believes Real Madrid will still have to be at their best to beat the Reds at the Bernabeu.

Bournemouth are looking for a sixth straight league win for the first time as a second tier club as they travel to Sheffield Wednesday, and Neil Redfearn will be looking for his first win as Leeds United's permanent manager in their home clash with Charlton.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers certainly didn't try to talk down the task facing his side tonight - calling Real the best team in the world.

Real, the defending European champions, top La Liga and beat Barcelona 3-1 last month.

"They are probably the best team in the world at the moment and we really look forward to big games," he said.

"When you come up against the best opponents, that is the challenge and what makes you perform to your best."
