Pablo Zabaleta has been awarded a red card in six of his seven seasons at Man City, he's nothing but consistent. Diego Costa then has Chelsea's second attempt on target of the game with a powerful header straight at Joe Hart.

City have 15 minutes to salvage this.

"In this battle of the two top teams, this is an absolutely masterful counter-attacking goal. Great ball from Diego Costa to the right, the cross comes in and there is Andre Schurrle to put it in.

"I know there will be loads of anger from the Man City fans, but Pablo Zabaleta got himself sent off. That is not Chelsea's problem."

That third Palace goal was scored from Everton's right-back spot. They had no right-back of course after sacrificing John Stones for an attacker at 2-1 down. Them's the breaks. The game looks gone now.

Chris Ford:, external Everyone worrying about Diego Costa losing his cool and it is Pablo Zabaleta who loses his head.

Oli Worth:, external Why do fans applaud players off when they've been sent off? Silly swipe, risks the game for his team.

What was that about 0-0?! Chelsea take the lead immediately. Diego Costa starts the move with a good ball out wide, Eden Hazard looks up and puts it on a plate for substitute Andre Schurrle, and he can't miss. Tap-in for the lead.

Reshuffle for City as Bacary Sagna comes on for Edin Dzeko. Both sides probably happy with a 0-0 from here.

"Life is never dull with Diego Costa around. He is the villain of the piece for Manchester City's fans after Pablo Zabaleta's sending off - now chances for Chelsea to cash in on their numerical advantage."

"The tackle is a yellow card. Pablo Zabaleta cannot complain he has got two yellows. Diego Costa was peeved because Zabaleta made a great tackle on him just before, and then he whacked him again. Definite yellow. Will this make Chelsea more adventurous? I doubt it."

  11. GOALpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 21 September 2014

Game, set and the match? You'd think so. Leon Osman gifts the ball to Palace in midfield, Jason Puncheon plays a fine ball into the run of Yannick Bolasie on the edge of the box and he steers it into the far corner first time. Great finish!

  12. RED CARDpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 21 September 2014

He's off! A flashpoint, and you know that Diego Costa is involved! Pablo Zabaleta fouls Diego Costa, who is not happy at all and grapples with the Argentine. Zabaleta has a hand on his shoulder, it all gets a bit silly and the end result is that Zabaleta sees red after picking up his second booking. Costa is booked.

All-out attack from Everton as they try to turn this one around. A strange scoreline as they haven't played badly, but two poor goals to concede have hurt them. They will have to get used to playing Thursday-Sunday of course.

"Fernandinho hit it with his right foot. The whole of Chelsea's defence just opened up completely from the half clearance. But who came out to block? John Terry and Gary Cahill, the two centre-backs. Who else? Prepared to take a bullet for the cause.

"Then Thibaut Courtois makes a top save. Especially with so long not having had anything to do. As any outstanding team do, Chelsea are just stopping and breaking up the play now."

Almost two apiece. Great play from Christian Atsu, as he dances past Jason Puncheon and into the penalty area, he finds Romelu Lukaku whose shot is well blocked on the line, and Gareth Barry can't turn it in.

    Time for reinforcements?
