It is almost hard to imagine that, on that balmy 17 May afternoon, Barcelona were beaten to the Spanish title in their own backyard. Yep, it is 99 days since more than 90,000 passionate Catalans arrived at the Nou Camp expecting a home win and a 23rd national championship for their heroes.

Instead, they left the famous old place having rose in unison at the final whistle to salute newly-crowned champions Atletico Madrid. Los Rojiblancos earned a 1-1 draw to clinch their first La Liga since 1996 at the expense of Barca and neighbours Real Madrid.

David had managed to beat not one but two Goliaths.

Cast your mind back to 99 days ago.

It was a world where England were quietly confident of reaching the knockout phase of the World Cup.

A world where Louis van Gaal was simply a twinkle in the eyes of Manchester United.

And a world where Liverpool's Luis Suarez had not suffered worldwide condemnation for biting Giorgio Chiellini.

    Hard to imagine, isn't it?
