Now it's time for us disappear down the tunnel quicker than a 'rogue' tweet appearing and disappearing on Falcao's social media account.

To recap for those at the back, Ashley Cole won on his Roma debut before Atletico Madrid earned the first win of their title defence.

But that's not all we've got for you European football fans this weekend. Nope. We will be back on Sunday with live text commentary of Barcelona's trip down the coast to Villarreal (18:00 BST) and then arch-rivals Real Madrid's visit to Real Sociedad (20:00 BST). Ciao for now!

But let's not do Eibar a disservice. Yes, they have not picked up a point at the Spanish champions but they could - and perhaps should - have done. That's four points from their opening two matches for the tiny Basque side on their top-flight debut.

Diego Simeone springs up from his comfy seat in the Calderon seat, casting one last glance at the pitch before the referee blows his whistle for the final time. His team have won, not convincingly, and he looks ready to blow a fuse at them in the dressing room.

Then Simeone watches Eibar almost punish his team. Away forward Angel wriggles clear of the Atletico defence but scuffs his shot wide. Simeone blows out his cheeks in huge relief.

Five minutes of normal time left in the Vicente Calderon. That's where Spanish champions Atletico are nervously holding on to a 2-1 lead against minnows Eibar. Suspended boss Diego Simeone, sitting in the home stand, clings on to the chair in front of him and mutters something to himself as the clock runs down.

And that seals it! Gervinho keeps his composure - for the first time this evening - to kill off Fiorentina with Roma's second. He latches on to Radja Nainggolan's perfect throughball to round the Fiorentina keeper and slot in. Cue pandemonium inside the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma boss Rudi Garcia urges his supporters to raise the volume as Roma edge closer to the finishing line. Adem Ljajic sends a low angled shot scurrying across the face of the Viola goal. Almost into stoppage time...

All it needed was a touch.

Another superb set-piece delivery from Javi Lara and Eibar right-back Boveda needs the smallest glance in the six-yard box to level.

He is unable to find it and the ball floats wide of the far post. A sigh of relief for home fans. Boveda has his head in his hands. Diego Simeone's side are living dangerously here.

Fiorentina substitute Albert Aquilani - a name which sends shudders down the spines of Liverpool fans - tangles with Ashley Cole as the visitors break from the halfway line. Is there time for late drama? Not if Roma keeper Morgan De Sanctis can help it. He flies out of his penalty area - Manuel Neuer-style - to snuff out a Fiorentina attack. Roma boss Rudi Garcia breathes a huge sigh of relief.....as does De Sanctis.

Eibar are making a fist of this one. Atletico, a team used to grinding out a win, are having to do the same - rather surprisingly - against the top-flight debutants. A set-piece looks their best bet of nabbing that all-important third goal as Diego Godin heads off target from Gabi's free-kick.

No mention of Ashley Cole for a while? I can only apologise. But that's because it has all been relatively straight forward for the ex-England man. As assured a display as you would expect from someone who has played at the very top level for years. Roma will need his experience in these final 10 minutes though - expect a Fiorentina onslaught.

Totti's departure might give renewed hope to Fiorentina because the veteran ran them ragged in the first half. Roma have lost their way a little in the last 10 minutes or so. But La Viola can't punish them as Juan Manuel Vargas swipes a pot-shot off target.

Another Roma substitution and it is a standing ovation for club legend Francesco Totti. What a reception as he leaves the field. The ex-Italy playmaker looks a little surprised, but he's got to rest those ageing legs...

Eibar are in plucky mood and despite looking like they may get blown away when two down in the first half, have grown into this and are threatening.

Javi Lara whips a corner in and Atletico are at sixes and sevens to clear the ball. As champions you would expect them to have the know how to see this out but their newly-promoted opponents seemingly know no fear.
