The FA Cup is full of fairytales - maybe one is on the way at Bury. The Shakers have just brought Joe Thompson off the bench for the final 10 minutes. A year ago last week, while with Tranmere, the winger was told he had cancer. He has successfully beaten the disease and is back playing professional football - can he now find a winning goal for the League Two side?

Incredible. It's becoming difficult to keep up with the drama at Bromley. Dartford's Tom Bradbrook - whose elder brother Elliot scored for them earlier - has struck to put the visitors 4-3 up. Will that be enough to see the Darts into round two?

It's been a good day for striker Sam Winnall, who has completed a hat-trick for League One side Barnsley to give them a 4-0 lead over League Two opponents Burton. Winnall, who scored Barnsley's league winner at Sheffield United last weekend, has five goals in three games.

Elsewhere League One leaders Bristol City are 2-1 up at Gillingham, while Kwesi Appiah has given League Two side Cambridge a 1-0 lead League One opponents Fleetwood, who are down to 10 men following the sending off of striker Jamie Proctor.

You probably won't see a better piece of goalkeeping than that in the FA Cup this year. Hartlepool striker Marlon Harewood teases out David Hughes in the East Thurrock goal before laying off to Jonathan Franks. The winger looks certain to add his second of the game, but Hughes flies out of nowhere to keep his shot out. Now can his strikers back him up and score the goal to keep them in this year's FA Cup?

What a day this is proving to be for Cheltenham. Mark Yates' League Two side are 4-0 up against League One Swindon, with Matt Richards scoring. Swindon don't enjoy the FA Cup much these days - they lost 4-0 in the first round at non-league Macclesfield a year ago.

We told you there might be another twist at Bromley - Danny Waldron has scored to make it 3-3 against Dartford in a terrific derby at Hayes Lane.

Around 10 minutes remaining in our 25 FA Cup first-round ties. For some, their dreams of Wembley will be shattered, for others, the dream will be very much alive.

Wycombe look to be sailing into the second round after putting a third past 10-man Conference leaders Barnet. Matt McClure stayed onside and clipped a cross-shot towards Sam Wood, who slotted into an empty net from close range.

Danny Mayor is proving to be a constant threat to the Hemel Hempstead goal, with the Bury winger enjoying run after run down the left touchline. Unfortunately for Bury fans, the end product hasn't quite been there and it remains 1-1.

Heartbreaker for the Conference North side. After the penalty appeal, Plymouth go straight down the other end and win a corner. Ollie Norburn's delivery is headed down by Carl McHugh and flicked home by big man Marvin Morgan. Dave Challinor's AFC Fylde have a lot of work to do to get back into this.

Penalty shout at Home Park as AFC Fylde sub Danny Lloyd's shot appears to hit the hand of the Plymouth Argyle defender sliding in, but the referee turns away the appeals and the ball goes out for a corner, which comes to nothing.

Barnet's Andy Yiadom thought he had made amends for gifting Wycombe their first-half penalty, but his header is ruled out after an apparent push on goalkeeper Matt Ingram.

Ryman Premier side East Thurrock are causing League Two Hartlepool all manner of problems, with shots flying all over the place. But they can't find that killer touch. Will they be able to put one away and go on to pull off a memorable upset?

  13. Postpublished at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

It's turning into a cracking cup tie at Bromley, where visitors Dartford now lead 3-2 thanks to Elliot Bradbrook's goal. Not much between those two teams - Dartford are 21st in the Conference, Bromley fourth in the Conference South, so there could be more twists yet.

A quick mention for Southport, 18th in the Conference, who are holding League Two strugglers Dagenham and Redbridge 0-0 away from home.

Big penalty shouts from the Bury players waved away. Out of a crowd of bodies, a Hemel defender blocks a Nicky Adams shot from close range and the referee turns down their appeals for handball. Hemel's goalscorer James Potton is being substituted and leaves to great acclaim from the travelling supporters.

Conference side Chester are doing their best to create a classic cupset - they're 2-1 up against League Two outfit Southend through Craig Mahon's drilled shot.

And things are hotting up between Tranmere and Bristol Rovers. The League Two hosts are 1-0 up but are playing with 10 men after George Donnelly's sending off.

With no massive upsets on the cards at the moment, Hemel Hempstead are closing in on what could be the result of the day at the JD Stadium, with the Conference South side still holding their League One opponents after an hour. Danny Mayor is the latest to be denied by Laurie Walker, while Daniel Nardiello balloons a shot over from 12 yards.

League Two leaders Wycombe are capitalising on having a man advantage and have come from behind to lead Conference opponents Barnet. Joe Jacobson's corner is met by the head of Aaron Pierre, who thumps the Chairboys ahead. Torrential rain and swirling winds at The Hive are making this a really difficult game for both sides.

  18. Postpublished at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

Cheltenham striker Byron Harrison, who had only scored twice all season before today, has now netted two in one game.

Harrison's second has put his side 3-0 up at home to 10-man Swindon, third in League One. Looks like an upset is in the bag at Whaddon Road.

The goals are flying in at Hayes Lane, where it's 2-2 in the all non-league Kent derby between Bromley and Dartford, while League One side Barnsley are 3-0 up against League Two promotion hopefuls Burton.

  19. Postpublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

Newport County have pulled one back against League Two rivals Luton thanks to Yan Klukowski's second goal of the season.

And some positive news for struggling Tranmere - they are ahead against Conference side Bristol Rovers after Max Power's penalty.

  20. Postpublished at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

Not an awful lot of goalmouth action currently at Home Park, with AFC Fylde's Jamie Allen missing the best chance of this half so far when he ballooned a shot from the edge of the area when completely open.
