You'd have thought that his Monday morning will be made a lot easier after his side's headline-grabbing 2-1 win against League One Coventry City.

It's just what dreams are made of, it's the perfect ending to a perfect week and I'm delighted for everyone involved with Worcester City Football Club. We're nine games unbeaten now, so we're a good footballing side. But to come to a League One club and to beat them on their own patch - it's a brilliant day."

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley tells BBC Final Score: "We prepared properly. I spoke to the players in the lead up to the tie and Friday night's game between Warrington and Exeter gave us a reminder of what the FA Cup can bring."

In the pick of the other ties, Conference South side Gosport Borough and Colchester United of League One shared nine goals, with the U's edging a 6-3 Cup thriller, and there were also goals galore at Braintree, where Chesterfield demonstrated their Football League pedigree with a 6-0 humbling of their non-league opposition.

And, last but not least, Norton United, the second-lowest-ranked club to reach the first round, were not quite able to continue their fine run, going down 4-0 to Conference side Gateshead.

BBC Five Live's Jacqui Oatley: Worcester were magnificent here at the Ricoh. Fully deserved win. Fitness levels v high and confidence/ability to match. Coventry woeful. But fair play to Steven Pressley. No excuses/deflecting in interview. Brutally honest about his side's performance, full of praise for Worcester fans - 3220 of them (5219 Cov fans) - were outstanding. Hope they reach the third round and get a biggie.

Sunday round-up

We had nine 14:00 GMT ties to get our teeth stuck into - and they sure did live up to the standards set by the first match.

Conference North side Worcester City produced the shock of the day, edging past League One side and previous FA Cup winners Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena thanks to two goals from Sean Geddes.

Elsewhere, seventh-tier Blyth Spartans trounced Conference side Altrincham 4-1, despite a hefty 74-place gap between the two teams in the football pyramid.

And non-leaguers Aldershot fought back to secure a replay with 2008 winners and 2010 finalists Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

FULL-TIME

Notts County fielded what has to be described as a full-strength side but they have been held by League Two Accrington.

After just four shots on target, this match won't be among the contenders for game of the day, but the visitors won't care. They will be in Monday's draw.

CLOSE!

Curtis Thompson shoots just wide. It's the closest either side have come but a goal now would have been cruel on Accrington.

Four minutes of stoppage time have been indicated. Can either of these sides find a late winner?

Another frantic afternoon of FA Cup action is almost done.

The day began at The Shay, where FC Halifax Town hosted Bradford City in the West Yorkshire derby. And the Conference high-flyers wasted no time in transferring their league form into the Cup, going ahead inside the opening three minutes thanks to Lois Maynard's strike.

But a Billy Clarke-inspired Bradford came roaring back in the second half, with goals from Jon Stead and Filipe Morais ensuring it would be the Bantams and not the Shaymen who would take their place in Monday evening's second-round draw (more on that shortly).

SUBSTITUTION

As we near the end of normal time, Accrington midfielder Craig Roddan comes on for forward Shay McCartan and that is perhaps manager John Coleman's way of saying he is happy with a replay.

Both teams are struggling to find the breakthrough at Meadow Lane. Twenty-nine teams separate these two sides in the league and, right now, less than 20 minutes separate them from a replay at the Store First Stadium.

Colchester United boss Tony Hulmes tells BBC Final Score: "The players took the foot off the pedal at 3-1 ahead, but it was entertaining for the fans. It was pleasing until we got a little bit sloppy with the defending to let them back in, but we were professional. I'd love a home tie now to keep the run going. A nice easy home draw would be great."

I imagine you'll be reading a fair bit about Sean Geddes tomorrow, the two-goal hero for Worcester.

FULL-TIME

The whistle blows and, while there are a few boos ringing around Fratton Park, you have to say that was a thrilling finish.

Aldershot will be thinking: "what if" having led 2-1, but if you had offered them a replay before the start of today's game, I suspect they might have taken it.

Portsmouth remain without an FA Cup win since 2010.

FULL-TIME

Worcester City have only gone and done it! As the final whistle blows, every single member of the away bench comes rushing onto the pitch to celebrate with the players.

The Conference North side have beaten League One Coventry City, 64 places above their visitors in the football pyramid, in the first round of the FA Cup.

Goals galore at Gosport Borough, where it ends 6-3 to Colchester after a late exchange where both sides added to their tally without affecting the overall outcome.

Chesterfield have handed out a 6-0 drubbing at Braintree, scoring their sixth in injury time.

The away side have a corner now and, unsurprisingly, they're going to take every opportunity to wind down a few more moments. Into the final two minutes of stoppage time. Remarkably, the League One side just can't get the ball.

Aldershot clear the danger and this tie looks to be destined for a replay....but straight down the other end, Aldershot have a corner. It's end-to-end in the final minute.

Connor Gater comes so close to sealing victory for Worcester, firing in a powerful shot towards goal, only for Ryan Allsop to palm it away.

Portsmouth are throwing men forward and they have won a free-kick in a dangerous position.

The home side send a long ball forward towards Reda Johnson, and it's headed away for a throw-in. A chance to get the ball into the area - but it's hooked behind for a goal kick.

With that man advantage, Aldershot are now back in the ascendancy. You sense Pompey would be very relieved to see this game out and still be in the hat for tomorrow's second-round draw.

We're into seven minutes of stoppage time. Yes, you heard me, seven!

Coventry are inches, millimetres away from an equaliser. Aaron Martin's shot from 18 yards has goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan flapping, but it somehow drifts wide of the near post. This has very quickly become defence verses attack since Reda Johnson's goal.

Right, we'll stick our necks out here - Blyth are surely into the second round after Danny McGuire bravely pokes the ball under the Altrincham keeper as the pair collide to make it 4-1.

What a great result that will be for Blyth, against an Altrincham side who play two sides above them in the Conference.

Reda Johnson, the big former Sheffield Wednesday defender, has now gone up top for Coventry. The Sky Blues have just seven minutes to grab themselves an equaliser - although Worcester goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan is doing his level best to waste as many of those as possible, and receives a yellow card for taking too much time over a free-kick.

It's a needless second yellow, immediately after Pompey had levelled. Defender Paul Robinson, booked for a heavy challenge earlier in the second half, slides in unnecessary and it's a fair decision.

GOAL

Pompey are still in the cup. It's a good ball in, flicked on and captain Danny Hollands heads in from inside the six yard box. Relief for the League Two side. Now, who wants this more?

Blyth Spartans might be there now with time running out, Robbie Dale foxes the keeper to slot home for his second making it 3-1 against Altrincham.

The 10 men of Coventry City have a way back into the tie. Captain Reda Johnson, who missed from the spot in the first half, pokes the ball in at the far post to halve the deficit. Game well and truly on.

INTO THE FINAL 15 MINUTES

So we're into the last quarter of an hour in each of our nine 14:00 GMT kick-offs. The big story of the afternoon so far has been at the Ricoh Arena, where Conference North side Worcester City lead the 10-men of Coventry City 2-0.

We may also have a shock on our hands at Fratton Park, where non-leaguers Aldershot are 2-1 up on 2008 FA Cup winners Portsmouth.

Can they see it through? Don't go away!

Jordan Roberts curls in a free-kick which bounces awkwardly just in front of Paul Jones, who does well to turn it wide. Rather than sitting on their lead, the non-league side are pushing for a third.

Chesterfield are easing into the second round, and Braintree are giving them a hand, with an own goal from Clerima making it 5-0 to the rampant Spireites.

Freddie Sears, an ex-Premier League striker, seems to have snuffed out the comeback at Gosport Borough, who now trail Colchester 5-2 after the former West Ham man grabbed his second.

How will the League Two side respond? They have hardly had a shot since the break.

Portsmouth haven't won an FA Cup tie since beating Tottenham 2-0 in the 2010 semi-final at Wembley.

Since then they've lost twice to Chelsea, including in that year's final, and also crashed out to Brighton, Notts County and, most recently, Stevenage. It's not been an easy four-and-a-half years for Pompey, has it?

But defeat here would arguably trump all of those defeats.

SUBSTITUTION

Sean Geddes, your race has been run, and what a race it's been. The two-goal Worcester City hero is replaced by Connor Gater with around 15 minutes to go.

A superb finish from Kyle Perry, who lobs the keeper from 20 yards from a downfield punt, pulls a goal back for Altrincham at Blyth Spartans, where the score is now 2-1 for the north-east club. Blyth, don't forget, play two leagues below their Conference opponents.

Coventry win a free-kick around 30 yards from goal, but James Maddison's powerful-looking strike can't get any further than the wall. The Sky Blues recycle possession though and chuck it in towards the penalty area, but the ball drifts harmlessly out for a goal kick. We're marching into the final 20 minutes here.

GOAL

The Conference side lead and it is no less than they deserve. It's been all Aldershot. Mark Molesley gets in front of his man at the near post and tucks the ball home to send the away fans wild. The 2008 winners are in trouble here.

Worcester come within inches of making it 3-0 and maybe, just maybe, putting this remarkable tie to bed once and for all. Substitute Nick Wright smashes a shot towards goal from inside the area but it's deflected just wide, with goalkeeper Ryan Allsop stranded.

Pompey are living dangerously.

The ball falls to Aldershot's Brett Williams in the box from a corner but he drills it wide across goal. There were so many bodies in there, that could have gone anywhere.

PENALTY APPEAL

The Shots fans' arms go up. They want a penalty after a clumsy challenge from Joe Devera. Nothing in it.

The visitors have enjoyed a small spell of pressure though, without really troubling Pompey keeper Paul Jones.

The Sky Blues almost have a goal back - but if they had done, it would've been controversial to say the least. As the ball comes in from the left, Worcester goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan clatters into his team-mate Wayne Thomas and stays down. But the League One hosts decide to play on, and Jim O'Brien twice strikes the ball towards goal yet can't squeeze in it. Close.

BBC Hereford & Worcester commentator Dan Johnson says the Worcester City fans are in "dreamland". He's not far wrong either - they'll realise their side are little more than half an hour away from one of the upsets of the weekend.

Is the comeback on? Gosport Borough have reduced the arrears to 2-4 against Colchester, Justin Bennett drills the ball past the goalkeeper after going one on one. Could Alex Pike's hopes (see 15:09) be justified?

Blyth Spartans are 2-0 up now at home to Altrincham, Danny McGuire's shot beats the keeper at the near post and goes in off the base of the upright.

Chesterfield look to be heading into the proverbial hat for the next round, they are 4-0 up at Braintree thanks to a sweet strike from Gary Roberts.

Wowzers, what a strike that is! Sean Geddes fires in a rasping low drive from just inside the area and the goalkeeper is beaten all ends up. It's pandemonium in the away end, while boos are already ringing around the home end. Are the 1987 FA Cup winners on their way out at the hands of Conference North opposition?

Goodness me, and they're not a million miles away from doubling their lead either. Ryan Allsop, on as a first-half substitute after goalkeeper Lee Burge was sent off, gets down well to keep out a far-post header.

It's been a scrappy start to the second half at the Ricoh. Despite being down to 10 men, surely the superior fitness of the Sky Blues will tell as this last 45 minutes goes on? Not just yet, mind you - Worcester have won a corner and the 2,000+ travelling fans cheered it like a goal!

After equalising right at the end of the first half, Aldershot have made a composed start to the second. Things have been very even at Fratton Park so far this afternoon, despite the 29 league places separating the two sides.

Wes York is scorer turned provider at the Racecourse Ground, his cross from the right is smartly finished by Andy Bishop who squeezes the ball in by the near post to make it Wrexham 3-0 Woking.

Ryman Premier Division side Maidstone United have done well to hold League Two Stevenage 0-0 at half-time, a fine effort considering how, Worcester apart, the non-league sides are struggling against more senior opposition today.

Chesterfield are nearing the next round, Sam Clucas putting the Spireites 3-0 up at Braintree just before the break.

GOAL

And, right on the stroke of half-time, Jordan Roberts has given the Conference side a priceless equaliser. Dan Holman's far-post cross is met by Roberts, who simply can't fail to score from a yard or so out. The half-time whistle sounds moments later, and the Shots are back in this tie.

MISSED PENALTY

Is that the cupset klaxon I can hear sounding? Goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan is Worcester's latest hero, keeping out Reda Johnson's low penalty. It wasn't well struck, but what a moment for the away side.

The 10 men have a lifeline. Worcester City's players are furious with the referee but he isn't going to budge. Reda Johnson will take it...

GOAL

Having got themselves back in the game only five minutes ago, Gosport have themselves a three-goal gap to overcome all over again. Alex Gilbey bursts forward from midfield to slot home and the U's are in control once more.

Game, set and match? Rob Ramshaw, lurking in the six-yard box, capitalises as the Norton keeper spills a long-range shot, leaving Ramshaw with a simple tap-in.

Sean Geddes steps up and thumps home a deserved opener from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Chesterfield, semi-finalists in 1997 don't forget, are looking ever more comfortable at Braintree where they have gone 2-0 ahead. Jay O'Shea spins around in the box to curl the ball into the top corner; in Essex, so far, the only way is Derbyshire.

Wrexham have doubled their lead over fellow Conference side Woking, Wes York nipping in at the far post to make it 2-0 at the Racecourse Ground.

Game on?! Justin Bennett's side-footed finish from inside the area, after a corner isn't properly cleared by Colchester, has Gosport back in this FA Cup tie. Borough manager Alex Pipe's half-time team-talk might well be a little less downbeat now.

Portsmouth's Ricky Holmes is the latest to get a shot in on Phil Smith's goal, whipping a right-footed free-kick in towards the near post but the ex-Swindon goalkeeper is more than equal to it.

Conference side Gosport are starting to enjoy some control at long last, after that devastating opening 25 minutes from their League One visitors. It must be hard to find that balance between trying to get back into the tie - and making sure the scoreline doesn't get even worse.

Not the prettiest challenge you'll ever see from on-loan defender Paul Robinson, who gives away a free-kick midway inside his own half. But the ball in is fairly comfortably dealt with and, it must be said, Pompey look fairly comfortable. Shots boss Andy Scott on the sideline, by contrast, looks anything but.

A long throw from United's Tom Winkle is almost turned in by Micky Lennon. Gateshead do not look all that comfortable defending Winkle's dangerous deliveries.

It all sounds a bit muted at Fratton Park at the moment. The Aldershot fans, who have absolutely packed out the stand behind Phil Smith's goal, will be disappointed by that early strike for the home side.

A couple of league sides are starting to make their extra quality count - Chesterfield have gone ahead against Braintree, with Owen Doyle tapping in from ultra-close range to make it 1-0 to the League One outfit.

Scunthorpe have taken a 1-0 lead over Forest Green, Gary McSheffrey's shot looping over the goalkeeper after taking a wicked deflection.

DISALLOWED GOAL

Rob Ramshaw has the ball in the net for the visitors but is correctly adjudged to have been offside.

It was a little easy for him to find space in the Norton penalty area. That's a let-off for the non-league outfit.

And it just gets better and better for Colchester. Freddie Sears is brought down in the area by Brett Poate, and the former Crystal Palace striker, who missed a spot-kick against Port Vale last week, picks himself up, dusts himself down and slots home. Ominous for Gosport. Very, very ominous.

PENALTY TO COLCHESTER

Conference North side Worcester, boosted by a tremendous away following, have started energetically.

No clear chances yet for either side at the Ricoh Arena but Carl Heeley's side will be satisfied with the first 20 minutes.

Coventry target man Frank Nouble looks like he could pose the biggest threat to the Worcester back line.

It's nip and tuck in several of today's ties, but it's worth flagging up that the Conference's Braintree, 52 places below their League One opponents Chesterfield, are managed by an FA Cup winner. Alan Devonshire was an integral part of the West Ham side that beat Arsenal at a sun-drenched Wembley in 1980.

But there's been another penalty, this time at Wrexham, where Neil Ashton sees his first effort saved but keeps calm to tap in the rebound for the Welsh side to lead Woking 1-0.

GOAL

League One side Colchester are making light work of their non-league opponents here. Freddie Sears gets in behind the Gosport defence and picks out ex-Arsenal man Sanchez Watt at the far post, who makes no mistake from close range. It's a really confident start from the U's.

And Portsmouth, who have started the better of the two sides at Fratton Park, have a deserved lead. Craig Westcarr is tripped inside the penalty area and Jed Wallace slots the penalty into the bottom corner for his eighth goal of the season - already his best-ever tally.

And how has Billy Clarke not just provided it to kill this match once and for all? He goes clean through on goal but his shot lacks any real conviction and goalkeeper Matt Glannon keeps it all in the balance.

YELLOW CARD

Adam Smith, on as a second-half substitute for Steve Williams, is the latest man to go into the book for Halifax. Moments before that, Mark Yeates had shot straight at Matt Glennon when well placed. There's still a goal in this tie, I reckon.

DISALLOWED GOAL

Jon Stead this time has the ball in the back of the Halifax net, but the flag is up because he was miles offside from the ball forward. I say 'disallowed goal', but I'm not really sure it ever got that far.

Excellent chance on the break for Bradford is wasted by Jon Stead's rather weak-looking back-heel, when the Bantams were three on three. At the other end, Halifax goalscorer Lois Maynard takes a pot-shot from distance but it goes wide.

SUBSTITUTION

Here comes Halifax's 28-year-old forward Jamie Jackson, replacing Paul Marshall. Can he write himself into tomorrow's back pages with a goal to remember for the Shaymen? Time is ticking.

YELLOW CARD

Nasty challenge from Andrew Davies on Richard Peniket, miles late and slightly high. The Bradford man goes into the book and Halifax have another opportunity to angle in a cross towards Ben Williams' goal.

Paul Marshall finds a pocket of space around 25 yards out, but the Halifax man's shot lacks both accuracy and power and drifts harmlessly wide.

A bit of a lull here at The Shay. Now it's Halifax's turn to patiently keep the ball, and Bradford's turn to sit off and keep their hosts where they can see them.

A long ball goes up to Halifax striker Scott Boden, but it's easily cleared by Bradford. The home side will be glad to just to get their foot on the ball again. Half an hour to go.

Those two Bradford goals were separated by the small matter of two minutes, 43 seconds. Now this is all about Halifax's character. The Shaymen are fourth in the Conference, but it is a position that owes much to their start to the season, when they won their first five matches in a row. Can they find that winning touch again?

GOAL

What a turnaround! And what a strike it is too from the man who looked to be Bradford's most dangerous player before half-time. Another early pass into the penalty area finds Filipe Morais, and his thumping strike across goal gives Matt Glennon no chance whatsoever. In the space of seven second-half minutes, the Bantams have turned this tie on its head.

And, right on cue, Jon Stead has levelled things up. Billy Clarke is unsurprisingly involved, turning a lovely little pass around the corner into Stead's path, and he rounds the keeper before slotting home. Bradford had to seek permission from Stead's parent club Huddersfield for him to play in the FA Cup today - and boy, will they be glad the Terriers said yes.

Billy Clarke is wasting no time in making an impression for the visitors, finding space in the penalty area but seeing his near-post effort turned away by Matt Glennon in the Halifax goal. All Bradford at the start of this second period.

It's a really strong start to the second half by the Football League side, throwing in a couple of early crosses, but the home team are staying strong for now. Is this early pressure a sign of things to come?

If it's a Sunday afternoon Cup upset that you're after, then the little town of Nailsworth in Gloucestershire may be the place for you.

Forest Green Rovers, a non-league side with an ex-Football League strikeforce in the shape of Lee Hughes and Jon Parkin, host third-tier strugglers Scunthorpe at The New Lawn.

The Iron, promoted from League Two last season, have already opted to part with record-breaking manager Russ Wilcox and, under new gaffer Mark Robins, their focus may well be on escaping the relegation places rather than FA Cup progress.

Coming up

For Conference North Worcester City, this is their first appearance in the first round of the Cup in nine years - and manager Carl Heeley has described the build-up to today's clash as "mayhem", with more than 2,000 away tickets sold.

These two teams met in the third round in January 1983, when the Sky Blues won 3-1 at Highfield Road after the non-leaguers had taken the lead.

Worcester's players may take inspiration from the club's most famous Cup giant-killing, back in 1959 when they knocked out Liverpool, then of the Second Division, 1-0.

Eighth-tier Norton United, making their first-ever appearance at this stage of the FA Cup, have already scored an incredible 19 goals in this year's competition - that's three more than Arsenal managed in their entire Cup-winning run last season.

A week on from beating Brigg Town 7-4, Scott Dundas "attack-minded" team face a Gateshead side who are third in the Conference.

One great manager who never had the privilege of lifting the FA Cup was former Derby and Nottingham Forest boss Nigel Clough.

However, Gosport Borough of the Conference South will be hoping for a little magic from the two-time European Cup winner today against League One side Colchester United.

Every year Gosport boss Alex Pike visits Clough's statue in Nottingham each year and makes a wish.

"The last four seasons it's come true," Pike told BBC South Today. "This year I asked him to get us to the third round proper."

And that will be that for the first half. Lois Maynard's early poacher's finish has Conference side Halifax ahead against Bradford of League One at the break. Neil Aspin's men haven't seen too much of the ball but, on chances, probably do deserve to be ahead.

Steve Williams is going into the book for a poor challenge on the right-hand side. Billy Knott's free-kick is easily dealt with again though, and we're into one minute added on.

Bradford are back on the ball and are probing, searching for a gap. This is patient stuff from the away side, but as a ball is finally launched into the area, Jon Stead's volley on the turn is nowhere near troubling the Halifax goal. He was well marshalled by Shaymen defender Marc Roberts, in fairness.

What a chance that is for FC Halifax. They are are doing most of the defending but, at the same time, are still creating the better chances. Striker Scott Boden peals off his man to latch onto a low cross into the area, but his side-footed attempt goes over. So close to 2-0.

I do wonder how much the Bantams are missing their big man up top James Hanson here. Jon Stead is working tirelessly, but just doesn't quite carry the same physical presence as Hanson, who rose to prominence with his role in Bradford's 2013 League Cup run.

What a save that is from Bradford goalkeeper Ben Williams, magnificent. It's his error, failing to deal with a long ball into his penalty area, that gives Halifax the opportunity to swing in another corner. Again the defending could be better, but the far-post header from Steve Williams is superbly turned away. There's some serious set-piece woe for the League One side here.

Bradford boss Phil Parkinson doesn't look best pleased here, rolling his eyes after an over-hit pass. I think he'll be fairly satisfied with the way his side have responded to the early goal, but there's not a huge amount of cutting edge against Conference Halifax.

At last, a shot in anger on the FC Halifax goal. Filipe Morais this time comes inside, but the 28-year-old's powerful strike towards the near post drifts a yard or so wide. Better from the Bantams.

Ouch! Strong challenge from Simon Ainge on Andy Halliday, who takes a moment before returning to his feet. Good, old-fashioned challenge from the Halifax man - albeit not a legal one.

Filipe Morais is really hugging the right touchline and does well to get another cross in towards former Blackburn forward Jon Stead, but the ball misses him and when it finds Mark Yeates it gets blocked away.

Billy Knott is seeing plenty of the action, just playing in behind the forwards and finding space in which to operate. But still, Matt Glennon in the home goal hasn't really had a save to make.

League One Bradford are really starting to boss the ball here, having over 70% of the possession at the latest check. Halifax are happy to keep them at arms' length - but I'm not sure this is going to work for another 70 minutes.

After the initial rush, Halifax are just electing to sit in and manage the game rather than chasing and harrying Bradford at every opportunity. The visitors have worked the ball into a good position here though, but the goalkeeper gets a touch on Filipe Morais's cross from the byline to turn it away from any immediate danger.

Perhaps more impressively, he has also picked up five assists, putting him right up there as one of the Conference's top strikers."

You'd be excused for not knowing too much about the Halifax team, but fortunately BBC Radio Leeds commentator Dave Fletcher is on hand to give us the lowdown on who to keep an eye on, starting with defender and captain Marc Roberts:

"Town's skipper is rapidly becoming one of the most dependable central defenders in non-league football. Good with the ball at his feet, he also possesses a flat and quick long throw-in which is sure to test the City defence."

Halifax 'do have a chance'

FC Halifax boss Neil Aspin says his side "do have a chance" against Bradford this afternoon - but also concedes that the Bantams have "a much bigger chance".

The Shaymen are currently sitting fourth in the Conference, while Phil Parkinson's men go into the tie on a five-match winless run in the league.

"In terms of finances it's a massive gulf," Aspin told BBC Radio Leeds. "Their top earner earns more than our squad put together."

Bradford's cup exploits

Bradford have enjoyed recent cup success, famously reaching the 2013 League Cup final against Swansea, despite being in League Two at the time.

They saw off Premier League sides Wigan, Arsenal and Aston Villa on their way to Wembley - before getting rather emphatically trounced 5-0 by the Swans.

For the record, the Bantams have actually won the FA Cup once too, back in 1911. They managed to squeeze past Newcastle 1-0 in a replayed final after the original match ended 0-0. Sounds like a thriller.

Perhaps not a town steeped in any great footballing tradition, if you type Halifax into Google you're more likely to find a picture of this guy than anything to do with the football team.

The Shaymen have produced one memorable FA Cup shock though, beating then First Division side Manchester City at the first-round stage in 1980.

Two great West Yorkshire rivals?

Today's early kick-off sees Conference high-flyers FC Halifax Town play host to Bradford City.

But, although just 10 miles separate The Shay and Valley Parade, meaning that Halifax are indeed the League One side's nearest neighbours in the top five divisions, these two sides don't exactly lock horns often these days.

The teams haven't crossed paths in a competitive fixture since 1998, when Bradford were 5-2 winners over two legs in the League Cup. That's actually their only meeting since the early 80s, when the two clubs were in the old English Division Four together.

They have never faced one another in the FA Cup.

Swindon Town have been going great guns under Mark Cooper recently, but there was no sign of them carrying their league form into the Cup.

Byron Harrison scored a hat-trick as fourth-tier Cheltenham produced a brilliant performance to win 5-0 at Whaddon Road, although the visitors did have to play with 10 men for 69 minutes after Nathan Thompson's red card.

Meanwhile, Cambridge also upset the odds to win at home to Fleetwood, and League One leaders Bristol City remain the highest-ranked team in the competition, overcoming Gillingham thanks in part to this thing of beauty from Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

Saturday's shocks

Bad weather may have denied Weston-super-Mare and Concord Rangers the opportunity to cause further upsets on Saturday, but in their absence Chester and Dover did non-league football proud.

Craig Mahon's second-half strike gave Conference side Chester a 2-1 victory at Phil Brown's Southend, while Morecambe were humbled at Dover thanks to Stefan Payne's goal on the stroke of half-time.

We almost had a shock on our hands at the JD Stadium too, but Hemel Hempstead Town of Conference South were eventually edged out by a couple of late goals from League Two high-flyers Bury.

The magic of the FA Cup

The oldest association football competition in the world returned to the BBC in style on Friday night, with Northern Premier Division One club Warrington Town, in the first round proper for the first time in their history, hosting Exeter City of League Two.

The match, live on BBC Two, didn't disappoint. Defender and plasterer Craig Robinson headed the home side into a seventh-minute lead and, somehow, they survived a second-half Grecians onslaught to book their spot in the second round.

We've got 11 cracking FA Cup ties to bring you this afternoon, starting with a rather juicy West Yorkshire derby to get our teeth into at 12:00 GMT.

With 13 non-league sides, including the second-lowest-ranked club to remain in the competition, and four former Cup winners all in action during the next five hours or so, I have a feeling we could be in for a busy one.

But before we get stuck into all of that, here's a little look back at what you might've missed already...
