Despite the history surrounding the FA Cup, Luton Town manager John Still isn't necessarily getting into the full spirit of things.

His team are currently second in League Two, and take on fourth-tier rivals Bury with a chance of a glamour tie against one of the Premier League big boys, but Still - some would argue rightly - has his eye more on the "bread and butter" than the caviar.

"With a gun to my head, I would probably say that promotion is the bigger thing," he told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"But this is important, I want to be as strong as I can for this competition."

We will be bringing you all the action of his side's game and the other eight fixtures games. You can join the debate using #bbcfacup or texting 81111.

Bell-Baggie's side are in a clash of two teams at the wrong end of the League Two table; how both would welcome a big third-round tie.

Michael Appleton's U's are currently on a four-match unbeaten run and in Danny Hylton (above) possess one of the top strikers in the division.

Tranmere are three points from safety in League Two after a dreadful start to the season under rookie boss Rob Edwards. He's since been replaced by Micky Adams and, in spite of their precarious position, they've won three of their last five.

The FA Cup is special to fans up and down the country, but one player who might have his mind elsewhere is Tranmere winger Abdulai Bell-Baggie.

Bell-Baggie, whose side face Oxford United today, has family in Sierra Leone, a country which has been badly affected by the Ebola outbreak.

"Everyone has their own problems and I have mine at the minute," he told BBC World Service Sport. "Football provides an escape, not just for me, but my family as well. I try to send what money I can back to help and that's all I can do.

All 18 teams in action today will be looking to emulate last season's exploits of Sheffield United.

The Blades pulled off shock wins over Aston Villa, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Charlton to reach last season's semi-final, where they fell to a 5-3 defeat by Hull City.

The Bramall Lane side have great Cup pedigree under boss Nigel Clough and are in the quarter-finals of this season's League Cup.

They're up against a Plymouth side managed by former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder John Sheridan. The promotion-chasing Pilgrims are fifth in League Two.

Wrexham manager Kevin Wilkin: "We have to be aware of what happened last night with Blyth Spartans and Hartlepool. We are favourites today and it is important that we do the job. The FA Cup is absolutely massive for us. It's the biggest financial competition that we play in and we need to make the most of it. To be in the hat for the next round, and hopefully get one of the big boys at home, would be huge."

Back to Blyth for a second, after Stephen Turnbull and Jarrett Rivers saw the Northern Premier Division side provide a second-half comeback at League Two Hartlepool to send them into the third round.

Spartans manager Tom Wade told BBC Sport after the game: "We tried to keep the players calm at half-time. We knew we would have a few chances and if we could stay in the game after 60 minutes we would turn them over.

"We have a very young side, they are a brilliant set of lads, their attitude is fantastic. It is a great night and I am so proud."

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson on the significance of today for the lower-league sides left in the draw:

"I think today is the best day in the FA Cup, because for lower-league teams, once you get through today and tomorrow, then it is the third round, and you have the chance of getting the glamour ties."

Former Wrexham manager and Wales international Dean Saunders: "I was manager at Wrexham for four years and we were so frustrated we couldn't get back into the Football League. When you come here and look at the stadium you realise they shouldn't be in the league they are in. This is big game for Wrexham - the finances involved will help them get out the league."

    Onto today's games -

As Ian Holloway once said: "To put it in gentleman's terms, if you've been out for a night and you're looking for a young lady and you pull one, you've done what you set out to do. We didn't look our best today but we've pulled. Some weeks the lady is good looking and some weeks they're not. Our performance today would have been not the best looking bird but at least we got her in the taxi. She may not have been the best looking lady we ended up taking home but it was still very pleasant and very nice, so thanks very much and let's have coffee."

Our nine FA Cup second round ties today might not be the best looking on paper but for the teams that progress a coffee date with one of the biggest clubs in the country could await. And football isn't played on paper.

  20. Hartlepool sack boss Murraypublished at 12:03 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2014

Blyth's glee, though, has compounded the woes of their north-east rivals and League Two's bottom side Hartlepool.

And Pools manager Paul Murray, who won only one of his seven matches in charge of the Victoria Park side, has paid the price for his side's disastrous form and been sacked following last night's 'cupset'.

Pools are six points away from Football League safety and have put Sam Collins in temporary charge of the first team.

Could we see any more managerial casualties today? Check out Robbie Savage's take on the "sacking season" here.
