Jarrett Rivers will never need to buy a pint in the small Northumberland town of Blyth again after his winning goal at Hartlepool.

After Stephen Turnbull cancelled out Jonathan Franks' opener for the hosts, Rivers ran up the right flank and slotted the ball home before being engulfed by his team-mates and some of the 1,111 Spartans fans that travelled the 40 miles up the north-east coast that ran on the pitch...

"I'm living off that goal for the rest of my life", he told BBC Sport just after the game.

If you missed it (where were you?) you can watch highlights of the game here.

  2. THIS IS (BLYTH) SPARTApublished at 11:58 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2014

This is the face of a young man who knows he has just written himself into FA Cup folklore.

Last night, 21-year-old Blyth Spartans midfielder Jarrett Rivers - who works in his mum's newsagents - made all the headlines by delivering a 90th-minute winner at League Two Hartlepool, sending the Northern Premier League side into the third round, and forcing Pools into making a change at the top (more of that in a moment).

We have nine second-round ties today with teams from the lower leagues all vying for a glamour tie against a name like Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool, and we'll be bringing you live updates from all of the games and tell you when the goals (hopefully) start to fly in.

    Welcome.
