Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon manages to claw the ball off the goal-line after Gabriel Enache just fails to get a touch on a dangerous low cross from Constantin Budescu.

A superb run out of his own defence from Vasileios Pliatsikas takes the Greek defender into the Celtic penalty box, but his low drive is into the side netting.

Celtic fail to challenge for a high looping ball into their penalty box and Astra defender Cristian Oros squanders a good chance by heading over the crossbar from 12 yards

Aleksandar Tonev is still looking for his first Celtic goal and the winger's effort from 22 yards curls wide of the near post.

Constantin Budescu tries a cheeky chip from outside the Celtic penalty box, but the effort is a couple of feet over the crossbar.

On-loan Aston Villa winger Aleksandar Tonev comes on for Callum McGregor, who has had an ineffectual night on the Celtic left.

Astra again cause Celtic problems on the break, but William de Amorim's low drive his well held by goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Poor Stefan Scepovic. This time the Serb rises to meet a Mikael Lustig cross but sends his header well wide from 12 yards. Celtic are preparing a couple of substitutes and I wonder if the striker is getting the hook.

What a miss! Emilio Izaguirre whips in a dangerous cross and, after Stefan Johansen fails to make a connection at the front post, the ball bounces up in front of Stefan Scepovic, but the Serb striker is unable to adjust his body properly and his header goes wide from eight yards out.

Another poor ball by Charlie Mulgrew gives Astra a half chance in front of the Celtic goal, but the Romanians can't take advantage.

Only goalkeeper Craig Gordon, right-back Mikael Lustig and, only for his energy (if rather aimless), Scott Brown have really performed to their abilities in the first half for Celtic.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila said before the match that, if they played in the Scottish Premiership, Astra would be top. He may have meant only if his team were not playing in it, but on this performance, the Romanians could actually probably challenge Hamilton Academical for the title!

Brazilian striker Alan Carvalho has scored his second goal of the night to put Salzburg in control in the other Group D game.

"Not to put too fine a point on it, that was dire from Celtic. I mentioned momentum earlier and there's been absolutely no sign of the firepower that brought them five goals at the weekend. Instead, the Romanians have looked the likelier to score and Celtic can be thankful they haven't done. Ronny Deila needs to earn his corn at the interval."
