Mark, Glasgow: When does the media frenzy start about that Malaysian player that scored for Scotland?

Ben, Edinburgh: I'd like to commend Tom English on his diplomacy tonight. Willie Miller saying we could be happy with a draw in Ireland? Barmy. Let's keep our ambitions high and lose the "wee country" mentality. Braw result tonight, though.

Kev in Kirrie: What a goal! Every time I've seen Andy Robertson for Scotland he has been superb for such a young boy. Credit to Gordon Strachan for putting faith in him. Did I mention what a goal?

Joe, Glasgow: The main thing to remember about tonight is: when you assume everyone is guaranteed full points against Gibraltar, Scotland are on 13 pts, Poland 13, Germany 10 and Ireland 10.

Fraser the proud Arab: Andy Robertson was immense tonight. A legend in the making.

Rep of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill: "It was frenetic and stop start in many aspects. Overall, I didn't think we were going to lose the game. Naturally we're disappointed [with conceding the goal from the short corner] we didn't react quickly enough.

"It's a long process, we were beaten tonight but we've got seven points, like Scotland, and they've got to come to us."

  10. Manager reactionpublished at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2014

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan: "I am a proud man tonight. That was an epic duel. We knew what was going to happen and we dealt with that. It was hard, we kept trying to play and from a Stuart McCall corner kick we scored a goal!

"Stuart had the idea. It was a variation on what we were going to try and it worked, you need to be a great player to score a goal like that. Ireland were a handful all night, it was like a British cup tie. This is the hardest group of them all and one goal decides every game."
