Liverpool are not in FA Cup action until Monday's BBC live game at AFC Wimbledon so Brendan Rodgers has taken advantage of a weekend off to go watch his son Anton play for Swindon against Fleetwood in League One.

It might be a bit of a wasted trip, though, with Anton Rodgers starting the game on the bench.

There are 120 league places between the two sides at Croft Park, with the home fans in full voice, passing a huge banner around behind the goal. Ten minutes to go time...

Match of the Day commentator Simon Brotherton at The Hawthorns: "This will be a West Brom side very much up for this contest.

"They'll be fired up for this one and new manager Tony Pulis has shown his intent here in the side he has named.

"There are recalls for the likes of goalkeeper Boaz Myhill and striker Victor Anichebe.

"There's lots of work to do for West Brom but Pulis will take a lofty view as he sits upstairs to get a better overview of things while he leaves the nitty gritty to the coaching team on the touchline, although I'm sure he'll have an earpiece to them."

Rivers has been handed a starting berth this afternoon. Another special delivery?

Swansea manager Garry Monk might have made nine changes to his team today, but he says the competition means a lot to him: "I love the FA Cup. I was brought up watching it and it's one of the best cup competitions in the world. I have explained to the foreign players exactly what this competition means, and the history of it."

Former England Test cricketer Graeme Swann: "My dad's from 200 yards down the road. I'm a big Newcastle supporter but they don't try to win cups anymore! So I'm here today, hoping for a win and that Blyth can join Newcastle in the fourth round.

"The romance of the FA Cup is the whole point, the whole story. Any team that goes on a run, the whole country gets behind them. My dream is that Blyth face Newcastle in the next round."

Match of the Day commentator Martin Fisher at Croft Park: "I think there's a chance of an upset here for Blyth and that's not just the romantic in me saying that.

"Birmingham have made 10 changes for this match and many of them haven't played much this season.

"The Blyth fans definitely fancy a bit of the 1978 spirit when the then manager made the players take a swig of whisky before they left the home changing room."

Millwall fans may not be seeing left-back Scott Malone in a Lions' shirt again.

He has been left out of their side for their home FA Cup tie against Bradford today and has been given permission to talk to Cardiff City about a permanent move to the Championship side.

Malone, 23, is set to discuss personal terms with the Bluebirds and may have a medical in the next few days.

Victor Anichebe has passed a late fitness test to take his place alongside Saido Berahino up front in the Baggies line-up. There are three other changes from the side that drew with West Ham as new boss Tony Pulis shuffles the pack in his first Baggies selection. Boaz Myhill gets a go in goal, with defenders Craig Dawson and Sebastian Pocognoli also coming in.

Gateshead, 11th in the Conference, make two changes from the side that drew with Halifax last time out. Michael Rankine is named as a lone frontman while winger Alex Rodman has shaken off a chest infection to regain his place. Former Everton, Sunderland and Crystal Palace midfielder John Oster is also included.

West Brom XI: Myhill, Pocognoli, McAuley, Dawson, Baird, Morrison, Brunt, Dorrans, Sessegnon, Anichebe, Berahino.

Gateshead XI: Bartlett, Jones, Curtis, Clark, Oster, Turnbull, Baxter, Rankine, Rodman, Pattison, Gjokaj

No place in the Derby side for Darren Bent. The former England striker arrived on loan at the Championship high-flyers yesterday, but is ineligible to face Conference strugglers Southport.

Sweeping changes are made by Rams boss Steve McClaren - nine to be precise - from the recent win against Leeds. Promotion to the Premier League is clearly the priority. Richard Brodie, who famously hit the Manchester United bar as non-league Crawley threatened to equalise at Old Trafford in 2011, starts for the non-league visitors.

League One side Barnsley name a full-strength XI for the visit of Championship promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough. Tykes keeper Ross Turnbull, who won two FA Cup winners' medals for sitting on the Chelsea bench, starts against his first professional club.

Former England midfielder David Dunn makes his first Blackburn start since 12 August, captaining the side at Championship rivals Charlton.

Bournemouth are top of the Championship and it looks like winning promotion to the Premier League is their priority as they make eight changes to the side to face fellow second-tier team Rotherham.

League One Preston include new signing Sylvan Ebanks-Banks on the bench for his side's game against Championship side Norwich City. The striker only joined Preston on Thursday after a successful trial period.

Championship side Millwall, FA Cup semi-finalists in 2012-13, will be hoping to avoid a shock defeat as they face League One side Bradford City at home.
