Three thousand or so Everton fans were left with a tricky trip home from West Ham last night after their epic FA Cup replay went all the way to penalties.

The neutrals watching at home may have enjoyed it almost as much as the Hammers fans - but with the game ticking on toward 11pm it was a late finish for those wishing to head back north.

And extra time and penalties could cause more chaos tonight, with the last services to Felixstowe, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft from Ipswich all leaving around 10.20pm - and they will not wait! You have been warned.

Left-back Tyrone Mings - highly-rated - is on the bench tonight. Just rested I presume. I saw him down in the tunnel earlier on wearing an outstanding jacket. Think Huggy Bear.

The 37-year-old defender is named as captain as Sean Dyche makes five changes to the team that beat QPR in the Premier League last time out. Mick McCarthy is certainly looking forward to experiencing an all-but full house this evening - though he admits that days after winning at Old Trafford, Ronald Koeman's Saints are unlikely to feel threatened.

"The atmosphere will be fabulous under the lights," said the former Wolves boss.

"I can't imagine it will be intimidating for them, having just won in front of 75,000, but it will inspire us playing in front of a big crowd."

We've mentioned FA Cup magic - but what about the Mick McCarthy Magic?

Under Mick, Ipswich are flying. Third in the Championship table, just a point off top, and Portman Road is set for a first sell-out in years tonight, with the club wisely reducing ticket prices.

It has been declared a 'home sell-out', with the travelling Saints fans unlikely to fill their allocation in the middle of a working week. It's the first time Ipswich have shifted all of their tickets since they beat Arsenal in the League Cup four years ago, while there hasn't been a 30,000+ crowd in Suffolk since the 2005 play-offs.

"£105 with the General Veers figure thrown in. A childhood dream fulfilled, 30 odd years on. On a football related note, COYS!"

    Alan Shearer
Match Of The Day at Portman Road

"Ronald Koeman has really got Southampton organised this season. I hope they can stay injury free until the end of the season and give the top four a really good go. But they will want to go on a good cup run also and get through tonight.

"Whether they can stay with the top four depends a lot on injuries because when you look at who they are battling against it is squad wise they will be tested. If Southampton can keep their main 14 or 15 player fits they can compete."
